Wtf is wrong with these people. Changing diapers on display areas and TABLES at restaurants! I am far from Mother of the year but holy crap!!!! Literally.
I’ve always been complimented by airplane passengers about how good my kid behaved on planes. We’ve been flying every year since she was 18 mo and is now 6. I mean people going out of their way to tell me how “good” she was they couldn’t believe it. I believe it wasn’t about her “being good” or me being an above average parent. It’s about preparation, snacks,
Coloring books, puzzles, toys, and tablets with headphones. THAT is why my kid didn’t take a nutty during a 5 hour flight.
I saw someone complaining about the tablet volume. I get it. They should have earphones but I guarantee that was probably better than the slow decent into a
Tantrum that happens when a kid is locked down in a seat and told to not move when there is little to do. Just sayin.

Regarding your last sentence, Feebie, I think that, IF the flight attendants give permission at certain times, passengers should not gripe about toddlers running up and down aisles - assuming they're not yelling. That's how one STOPS them from having tantrums, after all.
But it's incredible how many parents think that, even when you're NOT talking about the pressure in airplanes (which hurt babies' and children's ears), kids should be allowed to scream at any restaurant that isn't formal. The idea seems to be: "I have to put up with their screaming for seven days a week; why the hell won't YOU put up with it for an hour or two? Give me a break!"
Even if it's "only" five minutes, no, they can't do that, even at McDonald's. Why? Because if you, the parent, had a headache, you'd order them to stop immediately or else, right? So what's the difference when you don't KNOW which strangers might have a headache right now - or something worse? Same goes for letting kids run around in eateries - even when there are no waiters, you never know when some frail elderly person might walk in and get a hip broken by your kid.

Those whom the gods mean to destroy, first they drive mad.
So I learn as I go for sure. These little people do NOT come with instruction manuals and all kids are different. There was a child on a plane that had a helmet (so their skull wasn’t developed) and was clearly having an issue with the pressure. Several people around the mom were taking turns holding the baby and walking up and down the isle to comfort them. I think people are generally reasonable and helpful in these cases but letting kids run up and down the airplane isle wouldn’t be something I would do. I just wouldn’t.
My husband and I were unable to take my daughter for dinner with us (at a restaurant of any kind) when she was 12 mo to 2 years old because she was learning to walk and would start screaming to get down and run around. She simply would not sit in a high chair.
So we’d order from our favorite fancy places or whatever “to go” and drive and pick it up and bring it back (which I can remember doing often).
No way I let my kid scream their heads is in a restaurant. There were also times where my husband would eat while I was outside with my daughter and we switched if we had to absolutely be out. The fact it was McDonalds or the French Laundry didn’t make a difference.
Just basic etiquette.

I'm pretty sure I remember my cell phone offering to give me that sort of reminder some time ago, at the beginning of the summer as I recall. I thought that a bit odd.
I'm still wondering how sleep deprived you have to be to leave your kid in the care and not notice them? and if you are that sleep deprived, should you be even driving? seems like a danger to the rest of us.
One of my worst nightmares as a parent. You are sleep deprived, running late for work, forgot to brush your teeth and your kid falls asleep in a rear facing car seat.
I once got all the way to work in this scenario but I always put my purse in the back seat so that it would give me a double check - and then I saw her and sat in my car and cried for a few minutes before taking her to day care. Scary shit.

The irony is that you might've faced legal consequences if the kid was found and rescued in time. When it's not, the parents always have "suffered enough."
