For ONCE, a truly idiotic parent is getting punished for risking a child's life around dangerous animals! (The kid reportedly also broke a leg by falling, but that isn't made clear here.) All too often, parents aren't charged when, say, they leave babies in hot cars - whether or not the babies survive. (Clearly, that's the more common scenario.)
Oh, and it's just lucky we're not talking leopards, here. (THOSE are truly scary.)

Update from June 2015 (NBC):
"The mother who dropped her 2-year-old son into a cheetah exhibit at a Cleveland zoo in April was sentenced Wednesday to a year of probation, dodging possible jail time.
"Columbus-area woman Michelle Schwab, however, must undergo parenting classes instead of serving 180 days behind bars, according to NBC affiliate WKYC. She pleaded no contest last month to a reduced charge of aggravated trespassing, a misdemeanor."
Regarding the woman and her dear dog, Sixclaws, that DID happen, back in the 1970s - or earlier, according to author/editor James Meyers. (There may be more than one author with that name.)
Of course, it wasn't legal.

I wanted lasers and...I can get them, eventually?
The broader Marine Air Defense Integrated System is meant to shoot down drones, fixed-wing aircraft, and helicopters and includes both non-kinetic (jamming) and kinetic weapons to down drones. The kinetic weapon is a 7.62-millimeter minigun mounted on the new Humvee replacement, the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle. The Marine Corps plans to eventually add laser weapons to LMADIS.
These videos weigh against the commonly heard claim that America’s minority communities deeply fear the police. That fear, the story goes, is so deep that it has become customary for parents to give their children what’s become known as “the talk.”
“What parents have done for decades who have children of color, especially young men of color,” said New York mayor Bill de Blasio in 2014, “is train them to be very careful when they have . . . an encounter with a police officer.” Writing in USA Today, de Blasio’s son, Dante asserted that “young black people” are taught (as he was) “to fear the people meant to protect us.”
This characterization doesn’t square with the behavior shown in the 14 examples linked to in this article—which themselves represent just a fraction of what law enforcement officers around the country endure every day.

How you can tell when a beloved song probably has a well-deserved claim on its popularity.
