What would be really funny is if Epstein actually did commit suicide and it was only local incompetence that didn't stop him.

I read somewhere that Epstein was no longer on suicide watch when he killed himself. Maybe that was the conspiracy - that the people who feared what he might reveal simply took him off suicide watch and let nature take its course.

No; I'm suggesting that human nature brings distinctions (and problems) in behavior that are not diminished (or ameliorated) by talking.
If you want to insist that parents (distant from you socially and geographically) say this or that specific thing to a kid to compel an outcome, give us a shot.
Let us know how it works out.
Ain't a communication problem.

Your preference for simpler (not simplistic), Occam-hospitable explication is admirable... But the disturbing details on this one are a flood, not a sprinkle.
That's from Szabo's feed. (Whatever his temperament or fixations, the man's a howling genius, and his appreciation of this story isn't out of bounds compared to the rest of the internet.)

There will be history books, good ones, describing 9/11 & Epstein in successive paragraphs. The United States will not be flattered.
No, not really. There's no way to get rid of the postmodernist progressive dogma in academia unless a scorched-earth approach is made. Which is not going to happen because the Social Justice Warriors have everyone by the balls.

People who adore Trump piss me off.
But I wish that the vast array of Trump-resenting 'sophisticates,' from whichever party you find them, could recognize how atrocities like this nourish the appetite for Trump as Chief Executive.
Not because they want a strongman in national politics —Trump is anything but that— but because they need to express how repugnant & untrustworthy the entrenched, indefatigable authorities in our culture have become.
Yeah, the thought that Epstein's death might be a fake has wandered down the hallways of my mind.

It less an appetite for Trump as much as an appetite to ditch the rule of the 'sophisticates' and their laundry list of failure. Trump just happens to be the only one who fits that bill. Everyone else is a member of that club, or desires to be a member.

Yet, if society is hoping to raise empathetic boys, it needs to treat boys with a lot more empathy.
Or that Epstein was killed before he could impugn Mr. Hillary, Teh Adult Candidate?
Actually, neither. It's that the nation has catered to people crying "Me! Me! Me FIRST!" for so long. It's put fences on schoolyards, prosecuted people for having "attractive nuisances" lest someone be injured in their own stupidity, etc.
Epstein.

That tweet and this one are via Szabo as well.
"Conspiracy" is indeed a fraught word… But here we are. Epstein, who 'tried to kill himself' last week, 'killed himself' this week.
The punctuation seems childish and evasive, but it's essential.
