That's why physics should be thought about and experimented with, not just intuited.
This reminded me of the Mythbuster's episode were they tried to determine how much water would stop a bullet. That also got me to thinking about traffic safety, and the barrels of water serving as impact attenuators. The Fitch barrier uses sand, and came into being after a terrible wreck at the 24 hours of Le Mans race. Fitch "stated he was inspired by sand-filled fuel cans which he used to protect his tent from strafing during World War II."
Addendum: I'd really like to see the balloon experiment done with supersonic pistol and/or rifle rounds. I suspect they'll shred themselves, but where in the chain?
Reminder: Kamala Harris isn't fit for any public office.
What prosecuting attorney Robert Murray did was produce a translated transcript of the defendant's interrogation to which he had added a fraudulent confession. The defense attorney got a copy of the audio tape of the interrogation, but it "ended abruptly." Eventually, Murray admitted to falsifying the transcript, presumably in the hopes of either coercing a plea deal, or ensuring a victory at trial.
When the trial judge found out, charges against the defendant were dismissed. Incredibly, the State of California, via Attorney General Kamala Harris, decided to appeal the case. The state's key argument: That putting a fake confession in the transcript wasn't "outrageous" because it didn't involve physical brutality, like chaining someone to a radiator and beating him with a hose.
Well, no. It just involved an officer of the court knowingly producing a fraudulent document in order to secure an illicit advantage. If Harris really thinks that knowingly producing a fraudulent document to secure an illicit advantage isn't "outrageous," then perhaps she slept through her legal ethics courses.

The internet remembers your famous last words.
"Let's be very honest again," Bolden said in a 2014 interview. "We don't have a commercially available heavy lift vehicle. Falcon 9 Heavy may someday come about. It's on the drawing board right now. SLS is real. You've seen it down at Michoud. We're building the core stage. We have all the engines done, ready to be put on the test stand at Stennis... I don't see any hardware for a Falcon 9 Heavy, except that he's going to take three Falcon 9s and put them together and that becomes the Heavy. It's not that easy in rocketry."
SpaceX privately developed the Falcon Heavy rocket for about $500 million, and it flew its first flight in February 2018. It has now flown three successful missions. NASA has spent about $14 billion on the SLS rocket and related development costs since 2011. That rocket is not expected to fly before at least mid or late 2021.

If they only knew how many persons of color benefit from gerrymandered districts... ~ I R A Darth Aggie at August 2, 2019 8:20 AM
Sure a gerrymandered district combines people of the same race, but not of the same geographic, political, or safety concerns. NC's 12th Congressional district used to stretch from Charlotte to Greensboro in a desperate effort to gerrymander an African-American majority district.
However, the economic, geographic, and other concerns along that 92-mile long district are not the same. The NC-12 representative, Alma Adams lived in Greensboro and had no experience living in Charlotte or dealing with the issues a fast-growing city of 800,000 people is facing.
Charlotte is one of the fastest-growing cities in the US and faces traffic, crime, and housing issues related to that rapid growth. Meanwhile, Greensboro, a city of less than 300,000, with an eroded manufacturing and business base, faces entirely different economic and quality of life issues.
In 2017, the districts were redrawn and NC-12 now encompasses most of Charlotte. Adams, however, still has her primary residence in Greensboro and uses a mailing address in Charlotte. She's promised to move to Charlotte soon.
You know how when you've had too much to drink so you're laying on the grass and the police kill you because they were terrified of your bloodthirsty beagle but he jumped around too much to actually hit him even though they've been trained by the one group of people we expect to know how to handle a gun?

I'm not a fan of tariffs in general Mpetrie98. But in this case they aren't a significant drag on the US economy. Run the numbers yourself instead of accepting the vague platitudes various media outlets keep putting out. At this time Trump's tariff wars are putting roughly a -0.02% drag on GDP growth. Fairly insignificant impact. The bigger issue that is causing a real drop in GDP growth is lack of qualified employees. This is what lead to the slow down in business investment. After all, why build more production capacity if you don't have the workers to use that capacity. Lack of workers is causing a -0.5% to -1% drag on GDP growth. Many times the size of tariffs.
They are wrong when they say Trump's tariffs will cause unemployment. Some day they might, but it is unlikely Trump will still be in office by the time that happens.
