Try some humor for ten minutes or so. Less if you're a fast reader and get the references.
Hope Santa was good to you!

I have been reminded by a 9+year-old post that our Goddess is a skater.
I bet that would be a beautiful thing to see!

Well, I remember the track team photo... One fluffy-haired redhead and a half-dozen glandular young men who must've wanted to chase her through the Michigan humidity.

This is the smile of the man who smothered The Long and Winding Road with strings.
Let It Be, too.
And I've never thought about it before, but that was probably the Beatles shittiest album, no matter what he was going to do.

Don't let the finest decade in history end without listening to Rubber Shirt all the way through a couple more times.
But remember, don't try to count out the rhythms… The players were recording completely different tracks and mixed together much later, kind of like Exquisite Corpse. You just have to let the happenstance wash over you.

This seemed like breezy, sophisticated sarcasm.
This seems like a lonely person who's trying too prove things to people.

The funny thing about the replies to this tweet is that they pin the blame on the Religion Of Piss, but the truth is that this has nothing to do with it.
This is a common ocurrence in shithole nations: The Americans/Europeans hand over the expensive dogs to the local authorities, and these bureucrats keep them for as long as the free cash from the American government keeps flowing,. They don't even bother feeding them, and, in the event the animal dies, they just say that it was killed by criminals which in a weasely way is true.

"Reverse Freedom Rides"
http://features.wgbhnews.org/reverse-freedom-rides
"...Fuming over the Civil Rights Movement, southern segregationists had concocted a way to retaliate against northern liberals. In 1962, they tricked about 200 African Americans from the South into moving north.
"The idea was simple: When large numbers of African Americans showed up on northern doorsteps, northerners would not be able to accommodate them. They would not want them. The hypocrisy of northern liberals would be exposed.
"The Reverse Freedom Rides have largely disappeared from the country’s collective memory. The scheme almost never appears in history books and is little-known even in Hyannis, the primary target of the ploy.
"But today, with racial tensions re-inflamed, some hear echoes of that segregationist past in America’s present..."

"Dreading your kids’ annoying Christmas gifts? You need a Grinch."
https://www.newslocker.com/en-us/sport/utah-jazz/john-ortved-dreading-your-kids-annoying-christmas-gifts-you-need-a-grinch/view/
Um, if one can't handle these problems alone, in advance, maybe one shouldn't have kids?
As in, maybe warning people that certain presents will be taken directly to Goodwill, even if they do like wasting their money that way?

Yearzy-reviewzy, I'd forgotten this muscular piece.
Langewiesche is the the man. In a couple of the article's minor contexts, he essentially says 'trust me on this.' There is no other journalist or essayist for whom I'd so readily accede.

I take it the ratio of people who write the history books lean overwhelmingly towards registered Democrats?
Sixclaws at December 26, 2019 11:16 AM
In a case such as this, does it matter? This is transparent and well-founded documentation of an atrocity. Like, game over. Forky-dunzill.

Fine, but broadcast editions might always (hereafter, if only until 2025) be subject to Equal Time enforcement. Whatever its purposes, this excision might well be a constraint on Trump's adversaries.

Some will mock the self-destructive nature of masculine obsession.
But I'll always wonder what's it's like to give a gift so eagerly received.

What the heck is a lunar second? How do you fold your genitals? Aren't labia kinda folds already?

Apologies to Six, it was the Canadian CBC who edited Trump out of the movie.
Who knows what kind of shabby laws (and politics) they have cooking up there.
Crid at December 26, 2019 4:28 PM
In other news, the CBC edited Daniel Clamp, the Donald Trump homage in Gremlins 2, out of that movie. The former movie will now be shown as a half-hour holiday special.

As a life-long vegetarian, I much prefer a regular ole black bean burger or grilled portabello mushroom, or perhaps some sort of bbqd seitan. Oddly, most vegetarians I know feel this way...
My omni relatives prefer the Beyond meat though. So I get it for them if they're here, and they are happy.
I'm guessing these burgers are more for transitioning new veg* people, and for relatives of veg*s, and no one is going to be eating 4 a day.

Gog and NicoleK, as I like to say: Beware of anything that costs money; chances are it's a rip-off.

"The idea was simple: When large numbers of African Americans showed up on northern doorsteps, northerners would not be able to accommodate them. They would not want them. The hypocrisy of northern liberals would be exposed."
And today, it is vitally important to claim that the South, and ONLY the South, had anything to do with slavery, racism, etc., etc. in order to continue to conceal that hypocrisy.
One is especially discouraged to think about most things, such as where the slave ships originated, where the capital to get slaves came from and where the other markets were besides Charleston, SC.
The story seems to be like sending illegals to those cities who pretend to want them. Nope, can't have that.
