"We've been set up to fail as parents by the state."
No, you set yourselves up to fail as parents by having children you couldn't afford, and you expect everyone else to pick up the tab.

26 (and 25) and they have 7 children? And she's his "partner" not his "wife" - indicates they're not married or in any way legally joined.
They weren't set up to fail by the state - they were set up to fail by their own greed and stupidity. The state paid by the child, so they had more and more to collect more money, not thinking about the child for which the state was paying.
They're "ashamed" at having to ask for help via GoFundMe. But they weren't so proud when they were sucking up £2,100 a month on the public dole before the benefit cap was put in place, squeezing out kid after kid to up the payout. You can't tell me NHS doesn't give out free condoms or other birth control means.
That's the problem with government welfare, it takes the shame out of receiving charity. With that shame, one is driven to better one's lot in life. Without it, one becomes an over-entitled brat; it's no longer charity, but "my money."

After reading Conan's response to my link, I have to admit, I stood up at my desk, applauded and said, "Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!"
And not only do they have seven children at such a young age, their oldest child is only seven years old. Dollars to doughnuts says she's popping fertility drugs like they're Sweet-Tarts, since they have two sets of twins.
I would only add that they already failed as parents, before they even started having kids. You have children because you love each other and want to nurture a new life together. Not because it's a means to soak the government for more money. Can people with motives like theirs truly be good parents? Let's hope they aspire to be better.

Six, thanks for that link. Years ago I'd read of some violently sordid corner of the planet where those little trucks were known as "technicals" among local mobster militia, but never heard the term used again and had assumed the memory was bogus. (Wine.)
