Fun Hollywood news.

We haven't quite yet reached the end of the House of Windsor. But we can see it from here.

Not a link but a j'accuse. All of these California gig workers who supported AB-5 did so because free stuff: they assumed that they were going to get all of the benefits of full-time employment, without the commitment. When you're a snowflake, reality mugs you on a daily basis.

@Cousin Dave,
All of these freelance """"Journalists"""" who rooted for AB-5 thought that they would be the ones in charge.
They always think thinkgs will go that way.
Hehehehe.

I loved one of the responses in Sixclaws's cheese tweet.
"The main difference is that under communism, most property and economic resources are owned and controlled by the state (rather than individual citizens); by contrast, under socialism, all citizens share equally in all economic resources as allocated by a democratically-elected."
To simplify:
In communism the government openly owns and manages your business.
In socialism the government just takes everything you make without paying.
Gee, doesn't sound too different when you say it clearly.

Lots of sources are reporting this afternoon that the Ukrainian airliner that crashed in Iran was shot down.

Is it OK to bring back public hangings now???
What a sick bastard.

Trust old Granny E that this is sad but true.
I am 82 now but was very beautiful for many years (trust me-- I had a mirror). I was also extremely smart (trust me-- Mensa member, IQ of 181).
My looks handed me treats and treatment I did not deserve. People gave me a pass for bad behavior (you do NOT want to know). My intelligence was of much less use.
These days I wash my face, comb my hair, and am happy enough just being clean and neat. Things change and one time blends softly into the next.

It gets harder and harder to trust you that it's even sad.

There was a popular song a few years ago by a girl who obviously not from America:
♫
…'Cause we'll never beeee royy-allls....' ♬
Crid at January 9, 2020 3:49 PM
But also, what is it about women of any background that, in their seniority, they feel compelled to say "But I have learned the lessons of love!!!" with such unconvincing melodrama?
Even when their taxes & finances are for shit, their families are a mess, they never got the travel thing together, never did any deep reading or developed any musicality or discipline or expertise for any field.... It's a weird thing.
How about some humility? Human hearts are twisted and enigmatic... Most anyone who says they've mastered one is bullshitting.

These scurrying rodents simply cannot comprehend what it means to have a job.
All they've got is what they've been given. They'll be a colorful target for bitter denigration for many years to come.

What lessons of love, Crid?
NicoleK at January 10, 2020 11:02 PM
My point exactly... There's this claim of narrative insight about the most erratic forces in human behavior. It's love: Nobody knows anything, and those that do are liars. Lucky, but liars nonetheless.
