No admiration for a movie star can survive more than about a decade. By then they'll have [A.] brutally savaged the intimacies of their private lives or [B.] charged you for a ticket to a film so clumsy that you'll wonder how there could ever have been an affinity. Probably both those things! A guy from younger days comes to mind...
But were he able and inclined to atone, we know how it might go.

Some of the videos coming out of China are horrific. ...As bad as mid-20th Europe.
Imagine the cycles of history on amphetamine.

Many T accounts pretend to be authoritative timelines of the burgeoning 2019-nCoV crises, with a full office of people on phones and dashing off to the University for consultation with experts. Most are a guy in his underwear, staying up late, drinking Pibb Xtra, and horsing around with his 2014 smartphone.
The single most reliable indicator for veracity is a description, if not a link, for the source of the information.
Asian or Chinese descent is not a mark of expertise.
There are language barriers: Last night a favorite woman reported that people from Shenzen "swam to Hong Kong" as the border was closed. This was distressing, as that's at least twenty or thirty miles of filthy water... But some clever person noted that she probably meant "swarmed."
Rumors are flying over there, and these are people who don't even know what it means to receive or acquire and honest piece of information: It's just not what their culture is about.
But some of the videos of what they're doing to each other make you worry that they're all zombies, infected or not.

(I just wish they'd make it clear how MANY seconds you can look into your dog's eyes - three, I hope? - without disturbing it. Among other things.)

That's a neat list. A couple years ago I dated a woman with pooches. (Also, two dogs!) Wish I'd seen that beforehand… Specifically, I never thought about the eye contact thing.
