For self-driving cars? I've read that's one need. More speed, higher bandwidth, more data for the vehicles.

For your phone, probably not so much, tho it will help if you want to stream videos. Not that there's 5g near me, or that I have a 5g device. And unless it's a youtube vid that I want to watch in the comfort of my bed, I'd prefer a bigger screen.

And AT&T/Verizon/SprinTmobile can charge you more money.
