So, Ferguson happened, then the #MeToo movement, and "Okay, Boomer… " (nearly) became a taunt.
And now:
Also— Warren & Bloomberg went to Harvard; if they're not the nominee, it will be the first time without a Harvard or Yale grad on the presidential ballot since…
1984, I think. Coney might know better.

The whole "OK Boomer" thing didn't sit well with me. I'm glad for older, experienced people to be in leadership positions.

At least the boomers are doing OK.
There is always some new brag and some new taunt.

Here's a fun Hollywood paragraph in Wiki:
People magazine:And then you look at the map, and it's directly East. Like, the directness of Yucca Flat's East-itude is essentially equatorial in its purity.Golly, I should show the whole passage:

Of course I was wrong about 1984, since GHWB was on the ticket.
Okay, 1968: Nixon/Agnew v Humphrey/Muskie.

“On January 2, 1963, a day after his last appearance on his program The Dick Powell Show aired, Dick Powell died of stomach cancer. The stomach cancer was likely a result of having directed Howard Hughes's The Conqueror, amidst dust clouds of atomic test radiation in Utah. Out of a cast and crew of 220 people, 91 contracted various forms of organ cancers by 1981, including stars John Wayne and Agnes Moorehead.[5]”
Coincidentally stomach cancer is sky high in northern Japan. The further north you go, the higher the rate gets. Amazingly enough Hiroshima and Nagasaki are both in the south. Warm water ports.
Which there is some correlation to certain types of cancers and short term radiation exposure, that is a much higher correlation to smoking, heavy alcohol consumption and a poor diet low in essential vitamins particularly vitamin D.
My hearty German great grandparents born in the 1860’s lived into the 1950’s. Their smoking drinking wealthier children died on average 25 years sooner, mostly of cancer and heart disease.
Isab at March 1, 2020 10:18 AM
Not sure what you're saying there: What's causing the stomach cancer in the North?
Earlier, I meant the Westitude not the Eastitude, but everyone knew that.
Map— Yucca is the flag at West, St. George is the city at East.
And while we're at it, can anyone identify the connected plots to the East of this highway an hour north of Vegas?
Former missile silos? Some kind of drilling?

Are we counting law schools?
Let's see. I didn't have time to include the VP candidates.
Lotta Ivy in that list. The University of Minnesota comes in with a surprising number of candidates.

Not sure what you're saying there: What's causing the stomach cancer in the North?
There were a few theories, that it was picked smoked foods, Soon debunked. But the key seems to be that lack of vitamin d and antioxidants in the diet is a pretty clear indicator for high rates of cancer.
Live in Okinawa and get plenty of sunshine, and fresh food, low cancer rates, Live in the north and endure a long winter, low nutrient diet with heavy smoking and lots of booze, high rates of cancer.
Us lighter skinned Europeans can get away with no sun in the winter at least for a while. The darker skinned Japanese not so much
Italian health is only partially from the Mediterranean diet. Mostly it is the sunshine.
Science really missed the mark in the search for causes of cancer. A better question is almost always, what prevents it.

I was including veeps just to be purist. Hard to believe Bernie would select an Ivy just because someone on the Democratic team asked him to.
This will be an interesting year! Maybe I'll live to see the end of it.
(I currently presume [given the personal projects for the year] that I'll be infected by Covid-19, but will survive the illness. Going without food and all the other blessings of modernity will be tougher.)
The 'connected plots' are utility-line towers.
Crid at March 1, 2020 12:09 PM
Our winter is becoming lame thanks to global warming... people go outside in the snow and get plenty of sunburned cheeks, but not so much in the rain. I wonder if we'll see spikes in these vitamin D problems.
NicoleK at March 1, 2020 12:21 PM
Yeah, I'm assuming we will all get the virus as well.
And my overimaginative brain is coming up with conspiracy theories.
Here's mine, that I have no proof of or any reason to believe is true except that my paranoid mind came up with it:
This crazy, over-the-top, let's shut down every big event in the country reaction is not about containing the virus.
It's about seeing how compliant the people are when the government starts acting super controlling.
It's low stakes, since the virus is bad enough people might listen, but not so bad that if the people say "screw it, no, we're gonna have carnival anyways" it will be a total disaster.
This way they can see how obedient we are if there is a real disaster, or if they for some reason just want to do a power grab.
It's a test run.
NicoleK at March 1, 2020 12:25 PM
And the one old White guy (Biden) seems too soft-of-mind (not necessarily dementia) to do the job. He should just drop out, spend time with his grandkids, and hope that the old White communist guy doesn't win the nom.
In the meantime, I think that self-checkout-only stores can go screw themselves, but he does have a point.

That sounds entirely plausible to me. It might be useful to see if the private people shutting down their own events are registered Democrats or known RINOs.

I'd include the Veeps and VP candidates as well, but didn't have the time or energy to look up their educational backgrounds.
Could be a fascinating study.
We've invested way too much faith in our presidential candidates having Ivy League educations - to the exclusion of them having a resume of actual accomplishments or significant executive experience.

Friends, do not let a hospitality for gratifying, romantic drama in your life corrupt your perception of worldly phenomena.
Authorities in all sectors across the globe are morally dicey & irredeemably self-interested. You shouldn't presume anyone takes enough interest in you (specifically) to build a conspiracy around your suffering.
Crid at March 1, 2020 12:52 PM
It isn't me, specifically... they've shut down all public events and festivals in the whole fucking country, smack in the middle of carnival season!
NicoleK at March 1, 2020 12:57 PM
Yes, they are real. They hate you, and some of them want you dead. Just ask Amy, who received frivolous negative Amazon reviews on her latest excellent book following her opinion that the bike lanes on a busy LA street were unnecessary. Or ask Tucker Carlson, who nearly had his front door bashed in by an unruly Leftist mob. And so on.
Just be ready for them.

"I'm assuming we will all get the virus as well."
Everyone already has it. It's the precursor to the Z virus which will be released from a different Chinese bio-weapons lab.
Then it gets interesting.

Fun conspiracy theories, eh?
Most people don't know how smoke detectors work. Essentially there is a little radioactive bit and a radiation detector. When smoke gets in between the two the radiation detector sees a drop in radiation and sets off an alarm.
What most people don't know is that NASA has been increasing the radioactivity in smoke detectors for years. As the average radiation dose Americans get increases those weak against radiation get cancer and die off sooner. It is natural selection for radiation immunity.
Why is NASA doing this? Do you have any idea how hard it is to rad harden a space ship? Totally not worth it. So they came up with a different solution, rad harden the package instead. If all the astronauts are immune to radiation we can save a bundle on spaceship parts.
Very little of what I said is real, but it is a fun conspiracy theory.
