Adorable.
Are they also telling travelers to wave the wipes in the air while reciting a magic spell? https://t.co/W4fnR1ApUL

Amy posted the airport pics so the rest of us don't have to. How many of those people are going to be miserably sick on April 1st?
It really feels like our planet is convulsing.
Crid at March 15, 2020 12:13 AM
Does anyone here have the manufacturing savvy to know if this speculation about masks is true?
I've been thinking like this as well. A coffee filter strapped to your face with rubber bands has got to be better than nothing, and percentages make a difference.
Crid at March 15, 2020 12:25 AM
This airport shot seemed particularly horrific, given the advanced age of Florida residents.
For several years, wags have made jokes about authoritarians who "used Orwell's '1984' as an instruction manual."
Well, 200 miles south of Catalonia, here's how it's going.
Crid at March 15, 2020 12:35 AM
Well, how 'bout that! A storm is racing towards my neighborhood!
Well, let's distract ourselves with trivialities.
As the rock 'n roll generation prepares to leave the marketplace in a big way, there's been a trend of releasing unmixed studio tracks from popular albums.
Tonight I came across perhaps the least desirable such artifact. For your enjoyment— It's the drum iso's from "Band on the Run!"
Nobody has been waiting for that for nearly fifty years!
Crid at March 15, 2020 12:41 AM
This one was more interesting, because even if it was never a favorite, everyone remembers what was going on in their life the first time they heard it: I'm Not in Love. The whispering lady is still cute.
PS- I was an audio superfreak and knew what was going on, but never heard the splice.

"A coffee filter strapped to your face with rubber bands has got to be better than nothing ..." ~Crid
Not really. None of those make a difference for a healthy person. The best use is for infected people to use masks. In that case even paper masks help a lot.
Ben at March 15, 2020 7:20 AM
Somehow a six hour wait for bags doesn't seem like a corona virus problem, unless they are attempting to disinfect them.
But wait, wasn’t this what you you pushing for just yesterday?
Lots of screening and standing in line?
Isab at March 15, 2020 7:47 AM
"A coffee filter strapped to your face with rubber bands has got to be better than nothing ..." ~Crid
I think anything that keep you from absent mindedly touching your mouth, nose or eyes with your hands, before washing them intensely is probably a good thing.
Isab at March 15, 2020 7:52 AM
> The best use is for infected
> people to use masks.
1. Your sentence is incoherent.
2. Lesser protections are the topic: "Best," specifically, is not.
Do better.

Sorry it was directed at Amy who yesterday was complaining that a woman arriving from Italy sailed thru customs with no screening.
Isab at March 15, 2020 8:54 AM
Thrust and parry.
Crid at March 15, 2020 9:08 AM
I see that you just want to panic Crid. Ok. You do you. Doesn't matter if it makes sense or not. You asked a simple question. I gave you the answer.
"I think anything that keep you from absent mindedly touching your ..." ~Isab
Yes, that is all Crid's suggestion does. But honestly it isn't a significant effect either way. You could wear a colander on your head or magic underwear or whatever. It is all about equally effective.

Are you ready for a car without a windshield?

It is a neat concept. Thankfully they did bring up the issue of bugs and rocks. But a car where the manufacturer recommends you wear a helmet if you are going to drive over 40 sounds like a hard sell. Keeping it as a boutique items is probably the right choice.
Ben at March 15, 2020 9:17 AM
> you just want to panic
Golly, can you quote the what I said that encourages "panic"?
"The truth is you aren't going to stop yourself from getting this stuff." -- Ben, Friday
Crid at March 15, 2020 10:58 AM
Yes Crid you are going to get Covid-19. Your friends are going to get it. Your family too. And there is nothing you can do to stop that from happening.
You are also going to get the flu and a number of other viruses. Some of the flus have vaccines for them. Corona virus does not because most corona viruses aren't even a threat to the elderly. This one is worse than most flus, which is atypical.
But keep panicking. Give into your fears. Go crazy about toilet paper while you are at it for whatever reason. Wrap your face in an old T-shirt. It doesn't do anything but hey, at least it isn't likely to kill you, an now you've done something. No matter how silly.
Ben at March 15, 2020 1:06 PM
Muffin, still waiting for you to explain what the "panic" part is.
"Worse than most" flu; therefore, "atypical." Got it!
A new role model for your adoration.
Crid at March 15, 2020 4:00 PM
Go read just about anything you've written for the past week, muffin. Hell, read what you wrote at the top of this thread. Sadly you are so panicked you can't even read simple sentences.
Well, panic troll on McMuffin. Panic troll on.

Sorry for the double post

I have a bunch of veils from my bellydancing days, thought about using them when I run out of masks. They could provide a buffer.
Haven't used any masks yet, since I haven't gone out since I decided they were necessary.
NicoleK at March 15, 2020 11:10 PM
Ben of course we are all going to get it. We are trying to stop everyone from getting it all at once.
NicoleK at March 15, 2020 11:11 PM
Wave your wipes in the air like you just don't care!
Cousin Dave at March 16, 2020 8:24 AM
Tell Crid not me NicoleK. He has the odd delusion wearing a coffee filter on your face will protect you. Much like the goggles they do nothing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkaBT-u7qn8
The truth is you've already had other corona viruses before. There are a handful in common circulation. This one looks like it will joint the pack. Flatting the curve as you mention is the only useful thing to do.
Ben at March 16, 2020 8:39 AM
Ben, you have severe integrity problems.
