Hi, Crazy: "North Dakota state Rep. Ruth Buffalo, Mandan, Hidatsa & Arikara Nation, told a Fargo Forum reporter that the image goes 'hand-in-hand with human and sex trafficking of our women and girls ...by depicting Native women as sex objects.'"

A friend sent this collection of fingertip-funtime internet playthings through which you can watch people die.
91-Divoc is a particular favorite for state-level data. (Sorry Nicole, not sure there's anything for you to enjoy on there.)
And then, take a couple minutes to read this piece, and watch her charming animation of a principle often credited to Niels Bohr: “It is difficult to make predictions, especially about the future.”
Nobody knows anything.

Massachusetts Data is not looking good.
I bought my tickets early March... hope I can use them another time. for now the flight is cancelled... the only flight to the states is once a week, Zurich to Newark. If the flight gets reinstated, though, I lose the money if I don't use it. So I kinda hope it stays cancelled.

Nicole, I remember your community seemed a little late to close, with (iirc) a lot of Italians streaming by. Have you seen a lot of infection where you are?

If I'm called to be a juror, and an FBI agent testifies, why should I give that agent any credence?

This IPad keeps reloading and wiping out my messages. So if you suddenly don't hear from me for weeks, don't worry.

To Facetime with similarly-incarcerated fam, I bought a years-old, used Ipad a month ago for 70 bucks on CList. Battery life is only a couple hours, but that's four times what's needed.

And the moral of the story is You can make a person love you so much that it will ruin its life for your selfish needs.

Crid, I know there've been a few cases in the village, only one person I know personally (next village over) and no one I know well.
The only people I know who've died are not local, but in MA.
My grandmother died a couple weeks ago but not of Covid. The funeral was weird. About 11 people, all masked, we couldn't hug... pastor took his off for the sermon, though.
Schools open a week from Monday. They are splitting the kids up into smaller groups who go every other day.

Meanwhile in biotech, fungal (as opposed to bacterial) autoluminescence has been transferred to tobacco plants, allowing for the conversion of caffeic acid to luciferin.
Since said caffeic acid is common to all plants, the hope is that we'll have bio-engineered trees, ivy, et al lighting our way instead of just grid-connected street lights.
Downside: it could make midnight lawn-mowing a thing.

Yes, yes, but would the grass also glow?
I R A Darth Aggie at April 30, 2020 2:05 PM
"but would the grass also glow?"
That's what I was thinking, but surely it's a bad idea. Neighborhood spats would only intensify if someone mowed a message into the lawn about, say, the HOA - or worse, planted 'GFY Bob!!' against a backdrop of normal non-glowing grass.
Think of the possibilities.

Your imagination is leading the way nicely.
Struggling here to come up with other applications for low-luminescence lawn grass & shrubbery… Self-driving cars are nowhere near the point where such illumination could make a difference. But when they are, perhaps they could navigate by the geometry signatures of fauna which surround the road.
Sudden thought: Self-driving cars (& trucks) are going to represent such an enormous financial benefit to a select class of Americans (truckers, ride services, richfolk) that they'll probably be expected to pony up the dough for us regular plebes to retrofit our Tercels for compliance with whatever the automated vehicles require in terms of road use (if only for the momentary vector data of our vehicles).
