Disney banned sales of the slave Leia bikini using the It's sexist excuse but we all know it's because none of the fatties in charge of the franchise look good in them, and if they can't wear one, then Nobody will.
U.S. regulators and state officials are finding a significant number of imported N95-style masks fall short of certification standards, complicating the response to the coronavirus crisis and potentially putting some front-line workers at greater risk.
The late Richard Feynman, one of the 20th century’s eminent physicists, famously said, “Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts.” Unfortunately, the response of experts to the coronavirus pandemic has vindicated Feynman’s claim.
Experts in the supposedly scientific fields of public health and economics have made a mess of things. Their failures would be comedic, were the consequences not so tragic. Instead of capable service for the public’s welfare, the American people have been made to suffer incompetence and malfeasance. Unless we critically examine the failure of experts, we invite similar blunders in the future.
UK coronavirus deaths could reach 7,000 to 20,000: Neil Ferguson
"We had an exponentially growing curve of infections which we interrupted at a certain time," epidemiologist Neil Ferguson said.

Precisely a month later, the Johns Hopkins page records 29,502 deaths in the UK.
That's not to slam the man, it's just to point out that nobody knows anything.
It's weird to have a figure enter our (American) consciousness early in this shitstorm and then depart so briskly before the clouds have parted.

I wait through all the prompts until the human being picks up the line (usually nowadays from the Indian subcontinent, it seems) and then reply to their first inquiry with a description of a particularly intimate expression of affection which I've shared with his or her mother, and the secondary zones of cleaning requiring her attention in the moments thereafter.
I could share it with you, here, in many fewer words, but you'd not be pleased.
The next intrusive call usually doesn't happen for another three of four months, after which time I've collected enough ambient rage to let fly another fusillade.
Apropos of nothing but that it just came onto the internet radio station I like, here's a neat tune.

One ought not complain too much about particular officeholders until certain that one's own portfolio, including distantly-managed investments, has not benefited from sending manufacturing to distant shores.
Not one cent… Because we've all rewarded those who've given us the best returns.
A few years ago, I was impressed by a guy named Thomas PM Barnett. One of the winning lines from his speeches was: "America has the finest 3D printer ever designed… it's called the People's Republic of China!"
Not much mitigation. It's one thing if you break rules out of ignorance or dumbness. It's an entirely different thing if you break the rules you advocate.
He knows better but chose differently. Again: if you say it's a crisis, you should live your life like it's an actual crisis.
Sorry, Fergie: you're not that special. There's only so long that there can be two sets of rules until the second set figures that burn it all down isn't a terrible plan.

Or people just stop listening. That was one of my biggest problems with widespread extreme lockdowns. For one thing you've got the people advocating the most extreme lockdowns getting caught violating the rules they implement and enforce. For the second thing people aren't seeing all the consequences that were advertised (overflowing hospitals, corpses in the street, etc). So now you are getting a rash of public disobedience. And once that genie leaves the bottle it is really hard to get back in. It was 1974 when the maximum speed limit was set to 55 and the change was sold under a similarly false situation. Almost 50 years later and still no one follows the speed limit. What is going to happen when a full quarantine is actually needed?

Now that we have established that Governor's have dictatorial powers during an emergency, based on models, we are ready for phase 2. Which Governor, relying on climate models, will be first to declare an emergency? Should we start a pool?
A local judge did something similar about Abbott's lockdown order in Texas. He declared the order unenforceable due to being vague.
Well, the judge is right. Abbott offered clarification by interview, but that doesn't matter. That clarification should be in the original order. What the governor says to various reporters are not enforceable law.

Is it fair to say that "Experts in the supposedly scientific fields of public health and economics have made a mess of things."?
It's not like they haven't had help, with assorted special interests shouting this and that.
Even as the public contains people who are amazingly capable, they are dominated by those with something to say and the urge to do so repeatedly.
