Intimacy has always been cheap for men, and generally costly for women. The historically recent availability of reliable birth control didn’t turn a million years of evolutionary preferences on its head over night.

Lot of considerations other than reproduction before you swap bodily fluids with someone.

Even at a salad bar, one gets to choose what one wants from the offerings available. One gets to view the offerings before deciding to dive in. One does not have to take everything that is offered or submit one's choices for inspection.

Trying to dictate sexual preferences to the population at large so that the outliers don't feel like outliers is just more identity politics, the same identity politics that are tearing this country apart. It's a brute force attempt to "transform" society.

You cannot dictate the things that stir interest in someone. Some guys like freckles, some don't. Some guys like blondes, some like brunettes, and some go weak at the knees for redheads.

This kind of nonsense upends a century of gay men and women fighting for society to accept them and their preferences in partners with specific genitalia.

How long until dating only one "gender" becomes a hate crime? How long before you can be sued for discrimination after cutting your date short when you discover "her" Adam's apple?

Like hate crimes in general, activists are attempting to create a class of thought crimes with which they can punish those who don't toe the activist line; an enforcement tool to keep the public cowed.

And, like the Bolshevik attempt to create the "new Soviet man" by dictating how the "new Soviet man" should think, this will lead to violence, unrest, and social upheaval, but not to a change in thinking, longing, or desiring.

this has been going on for a while, typically targeting lesbians who weren't comfortable sleeping with MTF Trans ppl.

It's gotten worse as 'trans' has been watered down to include all manner of non-binary genders. Not only are there more horny trans 'women' around, but the new enby trans types tend to be very self absorbed and emotional. Lots of cluster B's in the enby tribe.

So everything is dialed up to 18 with lots of DRAMA. And on top of that, they don't bother trying to look like women, they just want to 'identify' as women. You can see how that's kind of a turn off for lesbians.

I'm glad to see any push-back on the trans-madness, but it's sad and frustrating to read the linked article and its links to other articles by women writers who are trying (usually anonymously) to challenge the dominance of trans over female. All of these women are BLIND to the reality that this relentless assault on all institutions and the imposition by stealth of radical new definitions of commonly-understood important words (such as woman, or racist, or feminist, or free-speech, or white supremacy, or gender) is part of the Left's deadly serious power play to destroy and then re-make society. Each of these women view even the Western and woke world as completely in the power of men. As a result, they view the current trans madness as 100% another campaign by men to dominate and erase women. Not one peep about similar problems faced today by anyone who objects to all the other totalitarian Leftist actions and dogma.

And I've said on other threads, the left seems to be targeting its own even more than the opposition, it's like a purity test you can never win.

The bigger problem is the movement currently wants to compell people to state lies. "Transwomen are women" "There is no such thing as a biological female" these are lies, and not small ones. If you can get the general public to parrot these, you can get them to say ANYTHING.

And that is even scarier to me than a simple attack on women's rights. (Not that I want women's rights attacked).

re:campaign by men - that's one reason 'gender critical' aka TERF protests don't go anywhere. It's such an absurd claim that it makes these women look like a bunch of crazy man-haters. Also it doesn't explain why most transgender are women claiming to be something else and why 99% of Feminists are ardent supporters of 'gender identity' and all the rest.

Frankly I think that you're right that they view society as 'completely in the power of men' and so can't face the reality here. It makes me wonder how much they really know about GI and the movement surrounding gender activism. It's very candid about the objective to 'neutralize' gender and effectively extinguish all masculine traits. Their big thing right now is to promote puberty blocking for children by default, so they can 'decide'. They've even gotten the NIH to fund research on genetic therapies that will require a medial trigger to initiate puberty.

I could not agree more. It literally sickens me to think of being forced to affirmatively agree with something that I consider to be completely false; not to sound like an uber-feminist but I consider that to be essentially mind-rape. They've tried to go after straight men for decades as well NicoleK. They just haven't been effective against them because they have no real hold over them.

I think the TERF movement has just about run it's course. As you say the major claims of the movement are clearly and provably false. There is also an age problem it has to contend with. There is a significant number of people enamored with NEW things. TERF is no longer new, so they are starting to lose those people. I'm not sure what the new self destructive fad will be.
