Peanut butter existed long before Carver. His genius was in using peanuts in crop rotation for cotton farmers. To do this, he had to find more uses for peanuts to make them a profitable crop.

His name as a slave was George and he was owned by a man named Moses Carver. Don’t know where the “Washington” came from.

G. W. Carver gave Congressional testimony to the effect that American peanuts deserved tariff protections due to their superiority over the foreign goobers.
