The only bats to worry about are the common vampire bats. Thankfully for most of the USA territory, these cute bloodsuckers live only in Zone 10 climate area.

Bats in Texas test positive for rabies regularly. I’m in zone 8b. Skunks and foxes get it, too. There was a steer at the San Antonio rodeo that tested positive this year.
