Having grown up on a college campus, I happen to know that the academic term for this phenomenon is ChickenPants-HomezyDoodle-RoostaMundo.

In one of his books, Kinky Friedman got philosophical about the Milky Way, saying that scientists know the Milky Way is composed of dust and debris while Native Americans believed it was the spirits of our ancestors watching over us. He went on to quip that's the problem with society today, too many scientists, not enough Indians. Personally, I think we need more scientists, but I get his point. Knowledge and wisdom are not always found in the same source.
