Sorry to do this again so soon, but got totally chewed on Saturday and I'm too wiped out to post (though I have a good link/topic!). So for today: You pick the topics.
P.S. One link per comment or my spam filter will eat your post.

There is some noise about not replacing RBG on the Supreme Court until after the Nov. 3rd election.
I have not looked at what the Constitution says about this yet, but it's pretty strange to see some insist that elected officials aren't really as elected as they were right after the last election.

@Radwaste: The Constitution provides that federal judges, including Supreme Court Justices, are chosen by the President, on advice and consent of the Senate. All the other discussions and assertions are political posturing. Like most professional politicians, most Senators are terrified that they might be required to make a decision (e.g., cast a vote) on a Supreme Court nominee just before an election. It’s likely to end up being a No Spin Situation in which voters will be able to clearly see, and judge, politicians (incumbents and challengers) on their character and beliefs.

No, you're wrong. You have to listen to Hillary, who has informed the nation that nominating a replacement to the Supreme Court shows that Republicans have a "lust for power".
So no more nominations until the private citizen who holds no office gives her totally not-for-power absolutely selfless approval, got it?

There's nothing in the constitution, it's just precedent. When Obama wanted to add a justice, Mitch threw a fit and said he couldn't do it in an election year it wasn't fair to the voters, even though it was Spring. Now Mitch is saying that it's totally cool. That's what people are reacting to.

You can go back further than Mitch. Heck Biden is now saying there is no 'Biden Rule'. It has always been a question of do you have the votes or don't you. The rest is advertising.

If the dems want to ability to table or reject a Trump nomination, they need to get control of the Senate and or the presidency. Until that happens, the republicans are in charge of both nomination and confirmation of judges.

What they're reacting to is Mitch McConnell playing power politics better than the Democrats are.
Four years ago, the Democrats had no problem with the president appointing and the Senate voting on a SCOTUS nominee during an election year. Today, they do. Why? Because the person doing the appointing is no longer a Democrat.
Only the truly naive believe that, were the president a Democrat facing a tough re-election and the Senate controlled by Democrats, that the Democrats would not push through an appointment.
This is power politics, nothing more and nothing less. And, much to the consternation of Democrats, Mitch McConnell is holding the cards.
Had the Democrats not tried to impeach him with less than a year to go until the election, they might today have some leverage with the president. Had they not done away with the filibuster when they were the majority party, they'd have some leverage with Senate procedures. They have no leverage - and it's their own fault they have none.

"Has the City Lights bookstore survived the riots?"
Yes, thank God. One of the remaining bits of cultcha in a rapidly cubicilizing former city of greatness.
IMHO, of course.

Oh good. I know it's a commie-hippie-hipster hangout but I really liked browsing that place when I lived out that way. I always found something interesting there.

"I always found something interesting there."
Yeah, I stumbled into Julian Jayne's "The Origin of Consciousness In The Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind" there and didn't crawl out of it until it had beaten me nearly senseless.
