Been reading a lot of things like this about Nolan's Tenet:
They say it's an okay movie, but not worth the risk of visiting a movie theater. (If the 'Rona were one-eighth as virulent, this would still be the case… It's a movie.) But this one will be especially good for streaming at home with closed captions.Crid at September 3, 2020 6:01 AM

Biden's got a very relatable personal story - born in hardscrabble Scranton, high school and college football star, teetotaler, overcame a stutter, no Ivy League degree, etc. But for every silver lining in his story there is a touch of gray. He was blue collar, but attended a private college prep school. He went to law school, but was caught plagiarizing a law review article and had to repeat the class.
Biden is like a great deal on a used car. You like what you see at first, but you can't help wondering it you got taken in the deal. He inspires cognitive dissonance.
I think Trump had a lot of that, too - judging from how many rabid supporters from 2016 have publicly said they'll vote Biden in this election.
Lots of non-Ivy in this election:
Harris, too, is not Ivy. She went to Howard University and then to law school at UC-Hastings.
While Trump has a degree from Penn (Wharton) after starting out at Fordham, Pence got his undergraduate degree from Hanover College and his law degree from Indiana University.
Libertarian candidate, Jo Jorgenson, got her undergraduate degree from Baylor, an MBA from Southern Methodist, and a PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Clemson. Her running mate, Spike, shows no formal education beyond high school.
This may be a historic modern election, boasting only one Ivy League degree. It's still full of post-grad degrees, mostly law, with one non-law doctorate.

I was thinking it looks like one of those pre-Columbian fertility statuettes. The ones that are usually headless but always emphasize breasts and thighs.

> There’s no evidence that Joe Biden

Anyone remember a thing a few years ago where Biden was renting a private house to the government to house his pink ass, and charging extra for his security detail?
Or something like that?
I remember naked arrogance when he was asked about it, 'Yeah, this working out great for me.'
Trump learned from a master.

• Aunt Becky is in prison now because she broke the law to get her idiot daughters into this school, where they'd have thrived. (Click through to watch the clip from the lecture.)
• The Democratic machine is now a collection of mutually-disregarding, free-spinning parts. (I *don't* have the heart to watch that clip....)

Listen, it's just a fact that some of us will always be more athletically gifted than others. For example, I personally have never made a defensive play like Harden did last night.

• Additionally, for all his flopping, Mr. Harden can be jaw-droppingly humble.
• Speaking of spudly thighs & elemental fertility— Twentyplus years ago when the NY Times was desperate to affirm the idiot/feminist/leftist narrative that Bill Clinton had been seduced by cunning & savage temptress, they published this snapshot of the conniving vixen. A breeze had had made a path across her fabric, but it kinda looks likes the boys at the newspaper's Pasteup desk had a go at the contrast with that (then) newfangled Photoshop thingy as well.
Paglia cackled, although I can't find her specific words in my substantial archive of her 90's commentary: The NY Times was trying to make her look tawdry and shameless, and were instead demonstrating the eternal powers of feminine attraction for which Clinton was always smirkingly susceptible.

Good to see, but it'd take a thousand such things to make Joe an appealing candidate.
Crid at September 3, 2020 8:40 PM
Nothing could make Joe an appealing candidate given the number of democratic legislators endorsing the "Vote for Biden or we will keep burning shit down and murdering people in the streets" rioters and terrorists
Trump may be an asshole, but at least he doesnt wink and nod at murderers while telling the public he will stop the violence, but only if you vote for him
