Swan Lake ballerina. I can't find a picture of her back in the day.

Huh. Well, I guess that is one way to "defund" the police. You pay for someone else's police to fill in for your losses. Also, good luck paying for all those recent retirees.

How much control over individual officer behavior do Minneapolis officials expect to exert on officers answerable to a different jurisdiction?
How much qualified immunity do officers from another jurisdiction expect to have in Minneapolis? And how will that perception affect the officers' willingness to go above and beyond to enforce the law and protect public safety?

Parler, the "free speech" alternative to Twitter, was the most downloaded app in the U.S. yesterday. That's great; I'm tired of people whining about Facebook and Twitter "censoring" them ... but -- in a completely predictable development, Parler is doing the same thing:
https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20200627/23551144803/as-predicted-parler-is-banning-users-it-doesnt-like.shtml
It's called "terms of service," and any hosting company has one. Don't like Twitter? Go to Parler. But what happens when people get dissatisfied with Parler? Something else will come along, or it won't. That's capitalism.

Conan, I'd be surprised if those officers from other jurisdictions are willing to do much more than drive around and show the flag.
That can cut crime. But I don't see them doing much more than that due to the uncertainty, professionally as well as personally.

@Kevin,
Another thing to consider is that with Google owning over 70% of the online ad market, it's very easy to pull an Alinsky tactic on businesses.

"That can cut crime. But I don't see them doing much more than that due to the uncertainty, professionally as well as personally."
It is such an appealing picture: the miscreant is caught in the iron jaws of stainless handcuffs, or is transfixed by the crossfire of three Glocks because he was violent...
But there's only so much you can do.
I was out this past weekend demonstrating to a friend of Mrs. Radwaste that the 9mm she'd been carrying - unfired? CRAP! - for a year wasn't magic... Basic proficiency was attempted, basic shoot/no-shoot situations were discussed. I commanded as best I could that she had to go to a real instructor, because she was going to bet the rest of her life on having done the right thing if she shoots somebody and needs to show due diligence when the State needs to show it reserves deadly force for itself.
I don't imagine it's going to be any better for an outatown cop, especially when the criminal is likely to be black. That's even how it is in London. So it's gonna be in MN.

This will cause a certain kind of lefty to quiver with fear, but I think it's mostly silly.
To whatever degree the terminated administrators were Trump appointees anyway, t' Hellwiddum. This was a close election, but not one reflecting the clearest political furies & distinctions: Trump's not especially conservative, and the truth is that a lot of people who voted against him were just tired of his shit. He's an especially beloved personality for some of his voters, but they weren't actually counting on him for anything in the years ahead except not being Hillary… Who is herself a bugaboo of quickly diminishing voltage. And nobody cares much about Biden, either. He's ancient, and purely a product of Democratic machinery, elected without campaigning.
If Trump was going to attempt a coup… No, such sentences are too silly to finish. Were he a cunning mastermind, his dastardly technocrats would already be in place, and he wouldn't be making desk space for them in the second week of November. Soldiers and office workers know exactly who they do and do not have to take orders from. There's no burgeoning constitutional crisis by which Trump could stir enthusiasm for their misconduct, and he's not articulate enough to exploit such nuances even if there were.

Thank you. I am reminded as I review the blog that you care about a great many things, and are therefore not trivial, however I might yell.
I do hope you get a cell phone as awesome as Trump's someday!
