R.I.P. British epic explorer, filmmaker, and novelist Tim Severin, 80.
He recreated the voyages of St. Brendan, Marco Polo, Robinson Crusoe (yes, he was based on a real man), the Crusaders, and the Mongols. Plus Sinbad, Jason and Ulysses.
I read about him when I was little, via the writing of National Humanities Medalist Jean Fritz.
