So a couple years ago, Lenona linked a website called Arcamax, a small-scale aggregator of syndicated material from what we used to call newspapers. Lenona herself liked it for access to comics, IIRC.
Because their editorial choices seemed milquetoast and gentle compared to most news sites, I was a little amused to think people could make money on the internet that way.
But Arcamax is a handsome alternative to Drudge and other crank-lem-up sources. It was like a comfortable family restaurant.
On Saturday night, they published this story:
It was like seeing a stripper working the shampoo aisle at Walgreen's. We still have people in prison for weed and little else. This is not the century that had been anticipated....

(Mild rerun) This is a good radio spot from Mickey Kaus: Go this this page and click
Starts at 1:30, for about 20 minutes. Interesting national and Cali politics, even for out-of-staters.Crid at January 17, 2021 1:14 AM

Very interesting point about recall elections and the opportunity for lesser-known candidates to get into the mix.
I agree with Kaus that Victor Davis Hanson would make an interesting candidate, but I also agree with his concerns that Hanson, a scholar and writer, may not have the administrative chops for the job.
Personally, I don't like recall efforts in any but the most extreme circumstances. I didn't like Gray Davis as governor, but voted against the recall, feeling it to be little more than political gamesmanship.

If you like your bovine service, be sure to tip your cow.

I think they prefer that you don't tip them.

Good one, Conan...thanks!
So we do share some sense of humor.

Not everything is politics, JD. Nor should it be.

Conan, I found that cartoon to be Far Sidesque.
I loved the Far Side (for the most part anyway.) What did you think of it?
This is one of my favorites.
JD at January 17, 2021 3:12 PM
I always enjoyed it.

He said a several neat things. His was the first suggestion I'd heard that if they can continue the impeachment of Citizen Trump, there's no reason they can't impeach any president… That now feels almost certain, unless you think Biden portends a new era of racial harmony. All but one are white, and probably most have already had a statue come down in the last year… Desecration is the point. Anybody. Lincoln… FORD…

A couple years ago there was a quake in the desert heralded to L.A. by tweets before the temblor itself was felt.
You gotta get lucky for that to work, but in Lotusland, you often get lucky.

In 897, a Catholic pope had his predecessor's predecessor exhumed and put on trial for perjury in The Cadaver Synod. The corpse was convicted and had his papacy retroactively annulled. Do we really want open that can of worms?
Conan the Grammarian at January 17, 2021 4:57 PM
We could wager...!

That is I mean um yeah I think it is what "we" want to do, in the Biblical sense. Biden made his name opposing school busing, but is now the healer who brought Kamala to the Big Table. Brandon Eich lost his Firefox gig for espousing the same position on gay marriage by which Obama had been elected six years earlier.
There's a generation of wokies who [A.] have never built anything within a flow of events and [B.] have never changed their minds about anything and now presume their own stylish righteousness to be consequent to their own (illusory, untested) personal magnificence, unprecedented in our tawdry species.
Everything's up for grabs. You will see an Impeach Lincoln bumper sticker by summer 2021.
Tied at the top of the fourth.

Oh. my. GAWD.
It was a BOX.
