Gog, back in the early ‘90s, I had a girlfriend who was a writer (a novelist.). She was a huge fan of Cormac McCarthy. All The Pretty Horses came out the year we started seeing each other and she could hardly stop talking about what a brilliant novel she thought it was.

I had to google him when I read your post. From what I found, the man does sound like a a raving lunatic. Even dismissing the more lurid reports, one is struck by the degree of his lunacy.

I wonder how many of those in his "very large audience" listen to him for entertainment and how many actually believe him.

While I'll defend free speech and the right of even raving lunatics to have a platform, we have too many raving lunatics with platforms these days, drowning out rational debate. Anger has replaced reason - for far too many on both sides of the aisle.
