Vein Of Idiocy
The latest in an epidemic of woke moronic-ism comes out of the UK. From Spiked:
In the UK, retired doctors are volunteering to become Covid vaccinators to speed up the process. But the bureaucratic hurdles to volunteering are bordering on the absurd.Retired GP Claire Barker, in a letter to the Telegraph, writes that she is expected to have documentation that she has received training in 'conflict resolution, equality, diversity and human rights, fire safety, and preventing radicalisation'.
In other words, medically qualified doctors cannot administer a life-saving vaccine unless they have had diversity training.
And preventing radicalization?
Work fast, dudes! You've got maybe 20 free seconds in between the medical stuff you have to do to clean skin, jab somebody, and stick a bit of gauze on afterward.
This is not the first time in the pandemic that wokeness has apparently trumped health. In the Australian state of Victoria, lax infection controls at quarantine hotels led to a second wave and strict lockdowns. An official working in the quarantine hotels told an inquiry that he had received no training in infection control - but he was given a one-hour lesson on diversity.
As absurd as all of this is, it spotlights a major problem for our society, and it's the extent to which cultish woke-think has pervaded every area of our lives.
What was wrong with the words I've lived by -- and that seem a really good goal for all of us?
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

You have to leave that 20th century thinking back in the 20th century.

In 1797, a Spanish naval official named Don Domingo Perez de Grandallana, wrote a thoughtful document on the general subject “why do we keep losing to the British, and what can we do about it?” His points are very relevant to the kind of bureaucratic idiocy we are seeing so much of in American and the UK today.
"An Englishman enters a naval action with the firm conviction that his duty is to hurt his enemies and help his friends and allies without looking out for directions in the midst of the fight; and while he thus clears his mind of all subsidiary distractions, he rests in confidence on the certainty that his comrades, actuated by the same principles as himself, will be bound by the sacred and priceless principle of mutual support.
Accordingly, both he and his fellows fix their minds on acting with zeal and judgement upon the spur of the moment, and with the certainty that they will not be deserted. Experience shows, on the contrary, that a Frenchman or a Spaniard, working under a system which leans to formality and strict order being maintained in battle, has no feeling for mutual support, and goes into battle with hesitation, preoccupied with the anxiety of seeing or hearing the commander-in-chief’s signals for such and such maneuvers…
Thus they can never make up their minds to seize any favourable opportunity that may present itself. They are fettered by the strict rule to keep station which is enforced upon then in both navies, and the usual result is that in one place ten of their ships may be firing on four, while in another four of their comrades may be receiving the fire of ten of the enemy. Worst of all they are denied the confidence inspired by mutual support, which is as surely maintained by the English as it is neglected by us, who will not learn from them."
Don Grandanalla, I think, would smile ruefully to see the current behavior of his old enemy.

The new motto is "better dead than rude". That is why the brits would not investigate the huge grooming scandal there.
Here we had the gov sending a bill to distillers for $14,000 each for paperwork (or fines?) for producing hand sanitizer over the past year. Thankfully that was canceled.
But it is also causing agencies to abandon their mission and common sense. The NHS in England tells docs to administer pap smears to trans women (who do not have a cervix) but not prostate tests to these same people (and conversely for trans women). This advice can be lethal. The US Forest Service, instead of managing the forest to reduce fire risk (among other things they used to do) spends huge amounts of effort on climate change, environmental impact statements, urban forestry, and other unproductive stuff. The US CDC thinks it is their duty to investigate gun violence, which is not a disease. The list goes on.

Bureaucrats gonna 'crat
Six months after 9-11, two of the perps got their green cards. I'm sure that, when asked why the freak, the response was a puzzled expression as in ...what's the problem.
