This is why, except for the evening of February 7th, 2021, I've maintained a lifelong detestation of American tackle football.

The other thing that happens is questioning if it was all worth it. When you struggle lifting up your kid. Or your mind doesn’t work right. You go broke you begin questioning if it was all worth it. And more times than not most would say no when truly being honest.

Then I remember that "rock band" in the lounge of the Champagne, Illinois Holiday Inn in 1979, which is when I figured out that *lots* of otherwise blessed young men were sacrificing their well-being with pathetic humility in an attempt to amuse me for money… It wasn't just athletes. Handsome (if not-particularly-gifted) youngfolk would always be scuffing their shiniest youth in hopes of a glimmer of recognition from uncaring strangers.

I didn't tip.

I didn't tip the band, I mean. I tipped the shit out of the waitress, one of the most glorious blondes ever seen, wearing one of those weird gathered leotards. She left a little bit of *her* golden youth on the field as well.
