My first thought (in response to the question, "What can we teach kids with" these): AI three-card monty!

I learned basic math in first grade. Mrs Martin had plywood cutouts of little men, and put clothespins on their hands to demonstrate and teach the math. It was 1968. I learned the math very quickly, but probably didn't learn as much as I think I did given that the process didn't involve robots.
Mrs Martin taught basic math, but she also taught me to read, for which she should be nominated for sainthood. A hardened veteran of the teaching wars, she ran her classroom with an iron hand and a paddle. It all worked, somehow. She was one of the most effective teachers I've ever had. Even without the robots.
Oh, her husband made her the plywood cutouts. He was also the school superintendent. It was a small school district in a rural area, but the learning we did.....

Pour La Photo... this is a joke, right? I mean it reads like satire. It has to be satire.

Disproving the notion that Hollywood is creatively bankrupt and out of ideas, Nicole Kassell will direct the remake, er, "reimagining" of The Wizard of Oz.
Yay.

You mean there hasn't been enough "reimagining?" Let's see:

The Wiz
Tin Man
Back to Oz
The Muppets Wizard of Oz
Oz, the Great and Powerful
The Witches of Oz
Wicked
Emerald City"
Yes, but the new version is going to be excruciatingly progressive and politically correct, Dorothy will be played by a mobility impaired colonialized person, the wicked witch will be a dead white male, the Munchkins will be played by 6 foot tall transgender athletes, Toto will be represent by a Karen, and it will be expressly stated that the Tonado was the result of catastrophic Global Warming.

Don't you mean Return to Oz?
I only recently heard of the 2007 TV show Tin Man. Never saw The Wiz, but Wikipedia suggests that the Broadway production was a good deal better than the movie. (Namely, it won seven Tony Awards.) The only other one I know is Wicked.
Given that there were 14 books by Baum and who knows how many spin-offs, including graphic novels with original plots, I'm surprised hardly anyone has tried to film THOSE. Especially, say, The Tin Woodman of Oz, which features one of Baum's better creations - an attractive giantess who's also a sociopath. Some other ones are good too...

Maybe. I was compiling that list from memory. I had read an article about Oz variations and tried to remember them all. I may have missed a few. As you pointed out, there are 14 books. I've read two of them, but that was many years ago.

Somewhere in Hollywood a screenwriter is looking at a stack of unpaid bills and considering taking the job.
