Linkberry
I'm nostalgic for the days when the big horror in Venice was that a chain store - Pinkberry frozen yogurt - was opening by the liquor store.

Emile Durkheim a French sociologist credited as a co-founder of the the discipline, developed a theory holding that that there is a limit to the amount of deviant behavior any community can "afford to recognize."
This limit is today known as the Durkheim Constant. The theory holds that as the amount of deviancy increases, the community has to adjust its standards so that conduct once thought deviant is no longer deemed so. Consequently, if not vigilant about enforcing them, a society's standards would be constantly devolving in order to normalize ongoing deviancy.

@Conan,
You just described the furry community in a nutshell.

Not sure if this is satire or an inconvenient truth..

Six, it's silly to describe contemporary masculine sexuality as "repressed" merely because men, strangers you've never seen before, don't "present" their most intimate behavior in non-intimate contexts.
The pattern is popularly known as civilization. Chicks dig it.

The Onion has apparently decided it's time to drop the hammer.
Crid at May 19, 2021 12:18 PM
Prolapsed anus? That's a pretty weak hammer.
I've noticed that The Onion, like Saturday Night Live has not been as funny or as sharp lately, relying more on playground insults rather than genuine humor.
Like Letterman's "Chris Christie is soooo fat" routines, the joke is elementary school level humor.
It's Devin Nunes, after all. Making jokes about him should be like shooting fish in a barrel to a comedy writer.
Can't wait for the "Trump's Mama Shows Off New Combat Boots" headline. That'll be real rip-snorter.

Well, we've never seen them publish such a naked request for a defamation suit. (Which Nunes would lose, but still.)
The Bee and a dozen others are in the Onion game now. And SNL was never, ever, ever that good. There was a comment from Cosh or someone similar about them the other day, and I thought: This guy's only ten years younger than I am; he knows perfectly well that it's not a reliable source of weekly amusement, and perhaps never has been. HE'S BEEN WATCHING IT — even if only out of the corner of one eye — for all these years anyway. Many generations of people seem to regard TV shows (including idiot news) as lesser cousins in the family, charmless personages to whom they owe some indistinct but patient allegiance, some number of hours of feigned attention, perhaps only at holidays.
It's pathetic. People, viewers, think of Lorne Michaels as some sort of provident (or once-provident) paterfamilias, the guy who made the first mortgage payment of a family farm… Even though they've lived their own lives in (the even funnier) city. It's pathetic.
The social media exploitations of these faux-intimate patterns of loyalty will be no less destructive, and perhaps a lot worse, for being so precisely targeted.

The last time SNL was funny was when they were airing animated shorts and you could thell they knew about it because that segment was never on a fixed time slot of the it.
Once there were no more Ambiguously Gay duo skits I simply stopped watching the show.
These days SNL is part money-laundering scheme and part resume-padding for the people working there.

Never got into Grodin. Sparkless, neutral… Never a sense that he was a character, only Hey it's Charles Grodin, that mirthless, sluggish actor whom others admire, wearing yet another toupee.
