I think even those of us who are opposed to capital punishment can find our way to a little convenient hypocrisy re: users of leaf blowers. https://t.co/Nf82a6le4n

Gay Stuff to start your week—
• These two tweets from Mel Chen. It's good not to care about soccer.
• This tweet from Stinson.
Having survived the choking Tsunami of theatrical gay preciousness in Hollywood twenty years ago ("Helen," etc.) and its consequent liberations/exploitations (gay marriage), it now feels like we're desperate to re-experience all that snot-throwing on a loop because our social-media culture cannot demonstrate sufficient volumes of sanctimony through authentic conflict.
(You'll say that the left has been doing this for years with race relations, and you'll be correct.)
Y'know— Biden is basically cranking our nation into a scheme of Universal Basic Income without calling it that. The conservatives are playing along, because they want the votes, too. But I mean, the money for that isn't being created, it's being borrowed.
And how much more bogusly compassionate can one be on behalf of some precious minority when everyone on the planet is being given free (if imaginary) money (for not working) by the United State government?
Here's a quote from the editor of Reason magazine:
This ends badly. I feel bad for young people, but only to a degree— It's their (naive) impulses which are being indulged most deeply. 'Our generation discovered virtue! We hate mean people! Everything is racist!'Good Luck, Citizen of Tomorrow. Don't come cryin', I worked a lifetime.

• You would sip from these while sitting on a sofa wrapped in plastic.
• Tragic Dad's day.

Add wind chimes to that list of exceptions.

McArdle & Kaus on satisfying voters, as above.

"Add wind chimes to that list of exceptions."
Even homemade wind chimes that make the most horrific non-musical enharmonic peace-shattering noises on the calmest of summer evenings when everyone's windows are open and no one can escape the din of what sounds like the intestinal rumblings of some hellspawn who has broken through the transdimensional gateway and sits in your neighbors' yard calculating how to annoy the living hell out of every soul within earshot and has concluded the answer is "this noise right here"?
Because those are really awesome.

How about users of jet skis and dirt bikes?

And Hardly Made-us-one motorcycles. They can't even build a muffler that works. What I see when one goes by is a 5-year-old on his Big Wheel tricycle shouting, "Mom, Mom, Mom look! Mom, Mom. Look at me! Mom."

The "Harley Rumble" is intentionally loud, intended to alert automobile drivers to the presence of a motorcyclist that they might otherwise miss in their rearview mirrors.

"The "Harley Rumble" is intentionally loud, intended to alert automobile drivers to the presence of a motorcyclist that they might otherwise miss in their rearview mirrors."
Yet BMW and Gold Wing riders, silent as they are, are under-represented in accidents.
Loud pipes do NOT save lives. Instead, they've gotten all bikers banned from national and state parks and some neighborhoods all over the nation, and agitated countless people into anti-biker sentiment.
You'll note that in the case you cited, that exhaust is pointed away from the car.
If loud pipes save lives (and they don't - do the encounter math), imagine what learning to ride that damned thing could do - Harley guys are also under-represented at serious riding schools, beyond those of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.
Like Jason Pridmore's JP43 Training.
You will NOT believe how little you know about riding a motorcycle until you have it SHOWN to you.
