Lenona, go back to 'kool-aid' five days ago.

Kamala says "And I haven't been to Europe. And I mean, I don't understand the point that you're making. I'm not discounting the importance of the border." [Cackle, cackle]
Um, that's not the issue here, dearie.
She was asked about not having been to the border in an interview for the Today show while in Guatemala.
Well, dearie, you aren't the administration's "Europe czar." Your very specific assignment was the Southern border and illegal immigration coming across it. Nothing about Europe in that.
In a speech delivered in Guatemala, she urged illegal immigrants not to come to the US, "And I believe if you come to our border, you will be turned back." You believe? Um, you're the administration's "border czar." You should know who is going to be turned back at the border.
This woman is frighteningly incompetent - and she'll be president by default in only a few years.

Saw a picture of Biden this morning: His face has been cinched up pretty tightly. It might be a matter of months.
Crid at June 8, 2021 6:51 AM
He's gotta last at least a year - or else the Democratic Party bigwigs cannot claim they didn't know he was in the early stages of dementia, that the signs weren't there.
Conan the Grammarian at June 8, 2021 7:05 AM
He will vanish into the basement only his wife and a few others will ever "see" him, but bills will be "signed" then when it would help them best like right before 2022 elections he will die a hero.
And no mainstream reporter will question it one bit.

So American Airlines is "asking" some of their employees to "volunteer" for unpaid overtime work.
Let's re-regulate the airlines instead. It's long past time.

Well, according to one commenter, the old man "insulted" him, so it was "self-defense."
Conan the Grammarian at June 8, 2021 1:31 PM
Let's don't. You may not remember air travel when the airlines were regulated, but it's much better now with open competition. This, even though the lower pricing that resulted means we sometimes have to fly seated among the Great Unwashed.
Besides, deregulation is one of the few things I can defend about the Carter administration.

Damn, all this effort just to kick Trump out of office, he must have touched a nerve:

You jest, but holy cow the English-speaking, millennials on social media are wholeheartedly agreeing with that sentence.
Sixclaws at June 8, 2021 4:09 PM
And the airline bailout money - let's take that back, too, especially if any of it went to executive bonuses.
Sure, I remember the regulated airlines. Enough space to recline your seat without knocking anyone's meal or laptop off, service to smaller cities around the nation, handy rear exits for anyone wanting to leap into the night sky with a bag full of cash.
The good old days!

Me growling. GRRRRR! Boo!
It bugs me that people can't acknowledge that life has been getting better for billions at a time (see China and India, anon), as if 'But there's still suffering in the world!' refuted the point.
Crid at June 8, 2021 7:38 PM
I'll believe things are getting REALLY better when all the nations unite to stop plastics from becoming more common than fish in the oceans - and/or figure out a real use for all that plastic waste.
Not to mention learning to stop buying frivolous things that they'll soon tire of - but they buy them because of the pretty, temporary packaging, as if adults were children who just can't help themselves. (That goes double for parents who can't learn to say "where is YOUR money" whenever their kids cry and scream for something. There's a reason the first rule is "reduce" not "recycle.")

"When being child free gets you extra 40 hours/week of work..."
It's an update, but there's a link to the Original Rant near the top. From that rant, which is from last fall:
"I know damn well that this is ------- insane and against all employment policies within the company."

This is hippie sanctimony.
What you REALLY believe in is centralized command of the planet. Your daydream is REALLY that you'll have a seat on the fearsome Central Committee for Fucking With People from a Disance.
Fearsome, but terribly, terribly *sincere*.
Crid at June 9, 2021 6:36 AM
"Hippie"?
Somehow, that's not the word that comes to mind when I think of Bill Maher, who wrote in "The New New Rules" (2011) that focusing on things like Sharia law in the U.S. while treating the state of the environment as less important is like "ignoring the crackhead jimmying open your back door to confront the monster your toddler hears under her bed."
"Hippie" doesn't come to mind when I think of Einstein, either (despite his hair), whom Maher quoted, regarding bees and their importance, on page 88 of the paperback edition. (Not to mention what using too much electricity does to them, which Maher also mentioned. Another reason I'm glad not to have a SmartPhone - along with worrying about ransomware taking over such phones, as "60 Minutes" has discussed.)
lenona at June 10, 2021 10:24 PM
What the fuck does Bill Maher have to do with this? Or Einstein? Hippies did drugs, but by whatever mechanism, these patterns are psychedelic.
