What I find amazing about cats is they have absolutely no social communication skills whatsoever. It's just not in their DNA that someone might be communicating with them. Point and they follow your finger. Dogs will eventually get that you're trying to point something out to them, but cats just can't. They evolved as solitary hunters and did not evolve with any socialization instincts.

Fascinating animals nonetheless.

How much is enough? The shortages you're citing means there isn't enough, and the variant means that just like for influenza, there is no certain vaccination for this - and no, it's not the end of the species.
