Fun aside: Hannibal Lecter was being treated with MAOIs and you're supposed to limit or avoid high-tyramine foods and beverages while on them; foods like liver, red wine, or beans. So that piece of seemingly throwaway dialogue revealed that Lecter was off his meds.
