Apostrophes are a sign of colonization; one must be an ethnogender denialist to miss the obvious. To properly interrogate and deconstruct the apostrophal concept, one must understand that in English, the lingua franca of colonialism, the apostrophe is used on two ways:

- To indicate possession, which by itself is a hierarchical, colonialist concept, and

- To indicate elision or contraction -- in short, the erasure of entire letters, sounds, and concepts of words, which must be seen as a microcolonial idea in and of itself.

And yet there she is in fine clothes, posed for a photograph by a professional photographer. And not only does she use the title "dr." but must have been admitted into some elite university for a degree of study to obtain it, presumably through some competitive process. She reeks of a certain very special type of privilege.
