Instagram Issues For Girls Were Caused By Evolution, Not Facebook
Female Insta competition is mate competition: Bc men don't get pregnant from sex & end up w/kids to feed, they evolved to prioritize female beauty in mates - features which ult reflect health & fertility. We have evolved psych mismatched for our modern world - & this w/not change https://t.co/RQacGmt4Mp

And a reply and my reply:
Weirdest was a Playboy cover of a dude in hottiebunnywear I saw last night. I'm rarely left speechless but this was one of those times. Hello? Are you trying to kill off the last 12 straight dudes in your audience?

And that cover:
"For Playboy to have a male on the cover is a huge deal for the LGBT community, for my brown people community and it's all so surreal. A total 'is this even fucking happening right now?' type of vibe. And I'm so pretty."@bretmanrock for Playboy: https://t.co/6iN9yRUF57 pic.twitter.com/3NJGp4J9wU

Playboy is already dead. Playgirl is where the money is and has been for some time.

Is that really a magazine cover? Don't magazine covers usually have edition information on them; and teasers as to what's inside?
If that does become an actual cover, this would indicate the magazine has seriously lost touch with its base readership. Who knows, maybe there is an audience for pictures of men cavorting about in women's lingerie and the magazine is onto something.

"female Instagram competition is mate competition"...but exactly how does this behavior, or similar behavior in the offline world, really work to improve Girl A's mating chances versus Girl B? Few guys select their wives or girlfriends based on relative female status ranking. If Suzy put down Linda and makes Linda feel terrible, then how does this improve Suzy's mating possibilities or harm Linda's? (Unless the pain inflicted on Linda is so severe as to drive her to suicide or cause her total social withdrawal, but these are extreme and surely rare outcomes)

I believe it's for an e-version of the 'zine. It is authentic and not a photoshop or a mimic.

They're genuflecting to the altar of wokeness. Remember, some women have dicks, and some men have cervix.

If Linda is to afraid or depressed to compete then Suzy has less competition for higher status mates. It isn't about appearing good in front of men but about convincing your competition to stay away from the men.

Playboy isn't a significant profit source for the company. The magazine can't compete with 'free' ad driven porn. Instead Playgirl is where the company makes it's money. And the major audience for Playgirl isn't women, it is gay men. For whatever reason there is a decent paying audience there.
This is just material from a more successful product spilling over onto an outdated one.
Ben at October 4, 2021 10:01 AM
Who reads Playgirl? What is their demographic?
The only issue that ever interested me was the one with the dude from Type O Negative in '95 during my goth phase.

Oh, I see Ben answered my question. Shoulda read all the comments

Playboy and Playgirl never were under the same publisher; Hefner resented Playgirl. And Playgirl hasn't been printed for many years.

These Instagram thots aren't looking for a husband; they're after the thirsty, lonely nerds' money. Hence the existence of private Instagram accounts and of course the Onlyfans ones.
They're tearing each other a new one -in a not so sexy way- because the abundance of lonely nerds/dorks/dweebs, the cash supply is finite due to curated, niche fetishes.
And these days Playboy magazine's sole purpose is for money laundering, they don't have articles worth reading nor funny comic strips with raunchy locker room humor.

Playboy died a long time ago. Sports Illustrated is walking the same funeral procession. Some whizBang marketing person thinks they can save themselves by trying after a totally different and much smaller demographic. It will fail.
Come to think of it, most magazines are dead-entities-walking. Woke ones the most. Who wants to pay for the meh writing of some 20-something wannabe or 30-something twat-failed-at journalism. Heck, there's almost no real journalism anymore anyways. Just contract advocacy and weirdos who think they are on the cutting edge of social evolution and want to proselytize.
ruralcounsel at October 4, 2021 2:06 PM
Apologies Kevin. You are correct. I could have sworn they were related.
Still, Playboy isn't profitable and doesn't look like it will be any time soon. They even got rid of the nudes for 2017 . . . and then brought them back. They are an outdated product desperately seeking a customer base. Perhaps now they will go for the gay market like Playgirl has for decades.
Ben at October 4, 2021 2:15 PM
Shame on youse guys for assuming that's a male. How does Comrade Playbeing identify?
Radwaste at October 5, 2021 5:49 AM
Putting a gay man on as the featured model, means either they are not trying to attract hetero men, or have lost sight of their target audience. I thought playboy cut nudes to try and be more like Maxim?
