I'm in the Chicago area. We have had 30+ inch snow, 17inches rain (and flooding), drought, heat waves (though not as bad as texas), and tornados. Sometimes the waves on Lake Michigan are 10ft and all boats have to be pulled into harbor. The wind can be strong enough that you will get a ticket if you are on the highway pulling a boat or trailer (it will flip over) and empty semis are at risk.
BUT: contra CA our whole world doesn't catch on fire on a regular basis or shake like maracas.
