But Arenít Gay Churches A Threat To Straight Churches?
According to an article on WorldNetDaily, before the ink on that ìMarriage Protection Actî George Bush endorsed was even dry, he jotted off a little fan letter to a queer church -- one that performs over 6,000 same-sex weddings a year:
The president wrote to the founding congregation in Los Angeles of the Metropolitan Community Churches, led by leading homosexual activist Rev. Troy D. Perry, on the occasion of its 35th anniversary."By encouraging the celebration of faith and sharing of God's love and boundless mercy, churches like yours put hope in people's hearts and a sense of purpose in their lives," Bush said in his Oct. 14 missive. "This milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on your years of service and to rejoice in God's faithfulness to your congregation."
Just prior to sending that letter, however, Bush issued a proclamation endorsing an effort to defend the traditional family in response to an increasingly powerful homosexual lobby intent on establishing a right to same-sex "marriage." (quotation marks, theirs)
In other words, if youíre gay, George Bush totally supports seeing you on your knees; just donít get any funny ideas about sauntering down the aisle.
Apparently, after the last discussion on gay marriage, we're all "gun-shy" about broaching this topic again. Either that, or we've simply belabored and struck down every opposition to gay marriage and have no desire to hash it out.
From the article: "It is reprehensible for a president who claims to be compassionate to pander to a coalition of extremist groups by joining their assault on gay families," said Elizabeth Birch, HRC's executive director.
I'm not sure how Bush's stance on gay marriage makes him "pandering" to anyone. He could simply be against gay marriage and speaking his mind; it doesn't mean he's pandering. Just because someone is against gay marriage, it doesn't mean he can't possibly be compassionate, either. Don't get me wrong. I don't like Bush. But that doesn't mean that I have to throw logic and fairness out the window when I discuss him.
I'm recalling a time I used to participate in a chatroom for Gay Christians on AOL. When someone asked what the Metropolitan Community Church was, I got jumped on for describing it as a "gay Church." Now it seems the MCC is choosing to identify itself as just that.
From the Article: "Rev. Neil Thomas, senior pastor of Metropolitan Community Church of Los Angeles, said the president's letter baffled him.
"'How does one denounce the right of gays and lesbians to marry in their churches and suggest they are incapable of having healthy marriages in one moment, and in the next rejoice in God's faithfulness to a gay and lesbian congregation that performs such same-sex marriages?' Thomas asked."
So, is this all the MCC has to offer, then? Gay marriages? Have they no ministry to its congregants? Do they provide for any local charities and services? Are heterosexuals not allowed to join? Why do we fault Bush for sending good wishes to a Church that performs same sex marriages unless the MCC considers itself a "gay Church."

Just that he's politicking out of both sides of that smirking mouth of his. It's that condescending bullshit "hate the sin, love the 'sinner.'" Like gay sex is a "sin"! Hah...because the King James version of the bible -- commissioned by King James, one of the biggest queens of all time, to be a poetic "translation" is the word of god handed down on stone! Not that you can know any bible was the word of anybody handed down on anything. People just think that way because they were told to, and they decide to believe it unquestioningly. I believe, unquestioningly, that it's time for me to eat a pain au chocolat. Other than that, I have no fucking idea, for sure, about anything...other than the fact that I SEEM to exist, and I SEEM to have free will and the ability to reason, which I plan to continue to use, along with my ionizing hair dryer and many other exciting tools in my possession.

I'm sure that Bush is sincerely creeped out by gay marriage from the bottom of his dried-up and greedy little bunghole. But I don't see how his staff could fail to put that sincere, heartfelt ignorance to his advantage politically.
And let's be clear that that Birch and the beltway queers are the masters of pandering. I hate those cunts and their dreary little fundraisers.
All my hate,

I'm sure they have dozens of 12-steppers with untreated clinical depression collecting mold in their dreary cinder-block basements, just like all the hetero churches. Praise the fucking lord already, and get out into the sunshine.
Pass the Midol,
