Immaculate Deception
As promised, here's the link to Matt Welch's bombshell investigative piece on how efforts to squeeze child support out of deadbeat dads are actually rounding up a lot of innocent men -- and ruining their lives. Not to be missed.

I applaud the government for going after deadbeat dads, but the financial incentives -- as illustrated by Anthony Pierce's case -- are inappropriate. Why should case workers, even if they find the right dad, get additional financial conpensation for their efforts? Tracking down dads is their job, for which they are adequately paid, I'm certain. Then when they find one, they get some kind of bonus? Why?
The government's saying, "We're hiring you do to this job, for which we will pay you X amount of dollars per hour. And if you actually DO this job, we'll give you a bonus."
As can be seen, this promotes blatant dishonesty. Ugh. I can't read any more. This is disgusting.
