Everything Old Might Be New Again
Okay, so we've been suffering with Bush for four years -- but, was he really elected president? No. The details on that -- how a company called DBT wiped thousands of Democratic voters off the election rolls -- were shoved aside. Here's a transcript of Greg Palast on the issue for the BBC, and a flash piece about it that's worth watching. Will we have a righteous election in 2004? Depends on whether the game is fair or cooked. I know everyone's sick of this issue, but take a look at this stuff. There's a lot that was glossed over in the "whether George Bush really is president" question, back in the day, and it's illuminated here.
By the way, Al Gore, whom I voted for (a little less grudgingly than I'll vote for Kerry) showed what he wasn't made of by accepting this fraud without a fight. Disgusting. And it's had a pretty big and alarming impact on all of us.

To answer this question, I doubt it. We're going to be using touch screen voting machines that leave no paper trail, and we're going to lie down and take it.

Not for nothing but, two words, Electorial College. This country does not elect the President with a popular vote. Never has. I wish they would change the law but have not heard of anyone who was disgruntled with the 2000 outcome trying to change it.
Question: Why did Al Gore announce he was not running in this election so early in the game? I think it was because he thought he'd get trounced in 2004 and did not want it seen as a referendum on 2000.
Any way, I voted for the President, and I am not too happy about the far right agenda, so if he looses to Kerry...oh well. If Kerry wins in 2004 I won't have to worry about "President Hillary" in 2008.
I'm okay with our military being in Iraq and Afganistan. Better to fight the threat over there rather than over here. Although, the 9-11 hijackers were Saudis, so why did Saudi Arabia get off of the hook so easy?
My opinion is Bush handled 9-11 correctly, as a war. As opposed to Clinton, Gore, and Kerry's view that it would be treated as a legal matter and handled by law enforcement.

all you have to do is remember when, on election night, cameras were in the hotel room with bush and family and he was asked about florida, which seemed to be going to gore .. and bush, smugly, like a college kid who knew the sure thing was waiting in bed from him in the dorm (whack on rohypnol, no doubt), said he wasn't worried about florida at all. the comment seems weird then, and makes perfect sense now. bush knew it was in the bag and was just waiting for the rest of us to find out.

Al Gore announced he wasn't running just a few days after he announced that Canadian-style health care was the way to go. Wouldn't be surprised if he got a call from the DLC that said, "Oh hell no, we ain't supportin' that shit. Go home."

Sounds a bit like Sean Inanity. Simply put, you don't know what you're talking about. Clinton was far and away the best president we ever had on terrorism, even earning kudos from two of Reagan's anti-terrorism efforts, for being the first president to adopt a systematic approach to dealing with the terrorist threat (in CONTRA-distinction to Reagan and Bush Sr., who armed terrorists, and Bush Jr., prior to 9/11, who ignored the terrorist threat). I firmly believe that if Clinton had remained president, or Gore had been made president (he did win, after all) 9/11 wouldn't have occurred.

Sorry, that should read "experts" not "efforts." I got ahead of myself.

well, at least republicans don't pile people into buses to vote, which is illegal. and i'm sure that if Bush wins you will all say that it was "cooked". but if the candidate that you want wins, then no matter what happens, it will be fair.
On with the insults, i won't read them, but bring them on!
