Slack To The Future
Who clubbed all the car designers and made everything come up looking so Honda Civic -- from the Jag to the Honda Civic? How come the coolest "cars of the future" are from the 1950s and '60s? I mean, I have been looking at the Insight...but click on the "50s and 60s link above, and keep clicking and clicking and clicking, and see the cars of my dreams.

This would explain the runaway success of "retro" designed cars like the New Beetle and the PT Cruiser, or the successful revival of the updated Mini Cooper.

Now if someone would only update the Nash Metropolitan you would be in heaven.

Truth be told, I have a Metro in my garage -- a 1960, retrofittted with a Pinto engine to be automatic. When I have some spare cash (and I do love the notion of cash that is "spare") I want to have it turned into a hybrid. And then I'll give you a ride. We can make really great time in LA traffic by driving under all the mammoth SUVS.
