Amy Alkon, Godless Harlot
Another entertaining angry letter from an OC Register reader:
Amy-----I read your column which I seldom do----and my daughter tells me you always give advice with terrible morals--------Your border on pornography. In Monday's paper you advised "Failed Flirt" how to get a guy to take her to bed. First of all if you had any morals you would tell a young lady who goes to a bar hoping to get someone to take her to bed that she is a slut, immoral and playing with danger. No wonder everyone has HIV and diseases, and illegitimate children. Thank God in another part of the paper Dear Abby had wonderful advice for a young lady telling her to get married and then worry about having children. I will keep reading your column and if this continues with no moral or values I will lead a brigade to get you to some slut paper------or better yet unemployed as an advice person. I am not "old-fashioned"----I just have a regard for my faith and know what is best for this world. Hard to believe a column like yours is read in a decent paper. M.S.
What I want to know is which papers are the "slut papers," because I must subscribe!
The Devil is a woman, indeed! You rock, Flamer!

Christians like this frighten and sadden me at the same time. i apologize on behalf of Christians everywhere. i promise not all of us go around spewing hate and anger everywhere. not all of us are looking for evil around every corner. i don't apologize for my Beliefs, but i do apologize for the way some people that share my Faith choose to dictate them.

Try the OC Weekly. That's a great paper for sluts.

This lady reminds me of that L.A. Observed commenter "joseph" -- they are both so sure they know what's best for this world.

Much appreciate your sentiments, Tami. And regarding the OC Weekly, I'm actually thrilled to be running in the OC Register. My mail from OC Reg readers is now about 9/1 effusive about my column. I have to say, the features ed there was gutsy to run me, because there was pretty much a parade of angry old ladies (resemblling the Israelites crossing the Red Sea in size, I'm told) trying to get me fired for my "terrible morals" and all the other stuff about my work they take issue with.

If anyone should be blamed for the fact that "everyone" has "HIV and diseases and illegitimate children," surely it's the moral crusaders of the religious right, who go out of their way to make it difficult to obtain birth control and abortion.

If I don't laugh, I'll cry. (And believe me, I about split a gut at this kind of thing now.)

"Do as I say and believe as I believe, or I'll get you fired." It's just what Jesus would do!

Must be that Christian humility I've heard so much about.

There's NO such thing as an "illegitimate" child-out-of-wedlock, yes, "illegitimate"-never

Quite right, Chris.

Um, guys, listen.... Isn't that a touch ham-handed? When you try to reverse such a huge river of rhetorical usage by whimsical fiat...
It's just silly. The historical importance attatched to fatherlessness didn't appear out of nowhere, and it's a fool who thinks it goes away because he told it to.

I "dated" a young woman who was a Lutheran minister for about three months. She enjoyed doing many naughty things. It was fun if a little confusing for me. Boy would she ever anger this lady, huh? She'd have to send her off to a "slut" church I guess.

"She'd have to send her off to a 'slut' church"
You're preaching to a choir of sluts, Curtis.
