INDUCE Vomiting Now
Orrin Hatch has a brand new bill -- the INDUCE act -- supposedly "for the children," that magic term that's supposed to make all of humankind melt and suspend all logic. (What a load of crap.) What it does, as Metafilter points out, is introduce "broad, vague" parameters on who can be sued for copyright infringement. Watch out iPod owners (like me)! Be sure to check down Ernest Miller's hilarious breakdown and comments on what Hatch says, and what he really means.

Ain't it the truth? Like when Janet Reno had all those people violently killed in Texas. At least our *new* AG is no killer. Whew!

All I know is whenever I see the Hatchster, it's like I'm falling under the provisions of the SEDUCE Act!

One of my favorite lines from Carlin:
Any time government agents and religious nuts
are shooting at each other, I'm a happy guy.

Listen to "Orrin Hatch on Skis" from Zappa's 1988 "Guitar" collection.

Well, Carlin was up to his testes in tax problems. I think he has an axe to grind. One of the hippest public figures of a hip generation, he hadn't meant to spend his sunset years playing to alcoholics in Vegas, which is why you never see a warm smile from him nowadays, no matter how responsive the crowd. Sad fates await liberals who think all the good in the world should be done with someone else's money.

Exactly, the religious tolerance of the left in full flower.
Crid at June 27, 2004 2:09 PM
I am neither a member of the left or right
i think they are both idiotic
but...
like so many others you mention this matter of religious tolerance
it, like so many other things has become a pc matter.
yes we must have tolerance for....
I have no tolerence for religion and i state it openly. you think youve caught me in a shocking admission?
in my view religion, which is really just the politically correct name for modern day superstition has crippled and ruined this planet like no other force. we could debate it point by point forever, which ive done many times, and dont want to do here, but that is my view. It's like asking me to have tolerance for for cancer or co-exist with it. Of course i'm for separation of church and state but it really doesnt go far enough. im for state and driving the religious superstitious imbeciles into the sea. why? becasue their idiocy directly impacts my life. religion isn't benign nonsense, it's destructive murderous business- ive have no tolerance for destructive murderous business.

Such audacious rhetoric! Such brazen insight! A man of your muscular principle must charge boldly through Sunday mornings with unbounded, retributive aplomb, terrorizing Methodists and Baptists alike to scurry like ants from their cowardly liturgies!
> I have no tolerence for religion and i state

And the Southern California blog readership is impressed, Chrissy. But just to be clear, how is your electrifying clarity otherwise manifest? Have you, say, ever said any such thing to person of faith? Specifically, have you ever told anyone --perhaps a family of seven Catholics from the East LA, dressed in their Sunday best-- that they deserve, in your appraisal, to be "driven to the sea?" Stop them on the street: Tell little boy Enrique that his grandmother's beads are a tool of "destructive murderous business," and see how he responds. And how his Dad, standing between them both, responds.
You have debilitating issues with capitalization, paragraph breaks, comma placement, and other mechanics of expression to be specified at a later date.

i tell people that all the time
sadly instead of jumping into the sea
as i would like they stay here stinking up the planet with their imbecilic idiocy
and as to the spelling punctuation etc
i ve been all through that with amy herself -
i dont worry or care about the spelling
puncuation capitalization etc on this blog
because im only writing to you and a few others
who quite obviously dont matter-atleast to me
and as i have also pointed out numerous times
the people that focus on the spelling, puct, etc
are the ones that doso because usually they are so devoid of ideas and talent that this is the one area that they feel comfortable in.
Crid- stay in your element of beer and tailgate parties-when you endeavor to cross swords with me
bubba you only end up embarassing yourself.
Oh good heavens why must i deal with people such as this?

YEAHHHH Chris!
I never thought my religious tolerance would be a question, but this surge in Christian fundamentalism and the political ramifications attached are making me feel a bit crowded.
It seems the central message of Jesus has been totally drowned out by the marketing, both political and material, being done in his name.
Wouldn't it be great to have a teacher (Rabbi) today who spoke of love on the top of hillsides without a media empire behind him?
Let's hope blessed are still the peacekeepers.

Why the hell hasn't Hatch resigned? I think the man's colossal stupidity should be an embarassment to the state of Utah. First he vocally opposed increased anti-terrorism funding during the Clinton administration. And he was also the first to announce on television that al Qaeda was responsible for the destruction of the WTC, thereby alerting bin Laden that we were on to him. Without naming Hatch specifically, a severely perturbed Rumsfeld announced that leaks of that sort make it difficult for national security offices to do their jobs.
Nice work, Orrin. You fucking jackass. Why don't you just join al Qaeda? You'd probably be less of a threat to the U.S. there.

There's nothing left to say, Eric. Let's just dance.
