Explanation Around The Collar
Here's a label from clothing produced by an American company that's sold in France:
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. Not that I'm a big Kerry fan. It's question of who's the lesser of two idiots. Um, er...or, something like that. Or...maybe that's the problem. In a country of, what, 200 million people, we can't find two citizens with some smarts and a modicum of integrity to run for president?TRANSLATION:
Hand wash in lukewarm water
Gentle soap
Lay out to dry
Don't bleach
Don't dry in the machine
Don't iron
We are sorry that our president is an idiot
We did not vote for him
Speaking of integrity, it's too bad John McCain won't be on the ballot, since he appears to have a good supply of it -- and seems to speak his mind more than so many of the bought-and-paid-fors in the House and Senate. I don't agree with McCain's stand on abortion; then again, I'm no fan of The Governator's Hummers, and I voted for him. If McCain were running, I have to say -- I'd run naked to the polls to vote for him.
Who's your dream candidate?

"More cynical observers believe that the message was planted by Bihn himself as a means of garnering publicity for his company, with just enough ambiguity built in to get his point across while maintaining a modicum of deniability. "
to the question of dream candidate: don't know, pretty much everyone is a nightmare. I, too, like McCain; except for abortion and his ill-thought out campaign finance reform. I've been intrigued with Bob Kerrey since 1991 and am disappointed he's never made much of a presidential effort since.

I read that there was some dispute about it, but the point is, it exists, and I don't really care WHY it was done...I like it.

"Who's your dream candidate?"
I tried to read his name on the banner behind him, but the letters kept shifting around. So did his face -- first he looked like my dad, then he sort of looked like my 8th grade gym teacher but without the mustache, then like Donald Sutherland circa 1973, then back to my dad. And then I was in my old high school with no pants on, at which point I woke up.

Hugh Hefner is my dream candidate.

Treacher, what is this, the politics of sexual fantasy and too much psychoanalysis?
Amy Alkon at August 21, 2004 9:06 AM
That and too much pizza before bed!

Love that label...
A few thoughts on Eric's Dream Candidate:
He would be fiscally responsible, and have to balance the Federal budget, again. The gains in the stock market will far outweigh the rise in taxes we would have to pay.
He would usher in 8 years of peace to America.
He would be funny, intelligent, and respected by leaders across the world.
He would read at least at an 8th grade level.
He would make our nation his first priority.
Enviromental concerns would be important to him. He would dramatically increase the funding of our national park system with 1% taken away from the military budget. Screw it- take 3% and make a new place of paradise in each state.
His energy policy would be well thought out and effective. Instead of encouraging Americans to buy 3 ton automobiles, he would issue tax breaks for energy efficient automobiles. Mass transit infrastructure could be planned for.
He would take a further 5% of our military budget and put it into social programs for our less fortunate citizens, and adress the mental ilness crisis in America. He would make daycare, nutrition, and career development programs available to everyone. He could encourage a national health program that got people off their ass and walking around the block.
He would listen to all points of view before making any decisions that get lots of people killed.
His policies would encourage technological development in all high tech fields, including medical research.
He would try to reverse some of the corporate welfare, which will be his most difficult task. Corporate accounting would be addressed and malfeasance strictly prosecuted- tax policies would discourage the further consolidation of mega wealth (which translates into power) into the hands of a few.
Jesus would not be a major factor in his political thoughts...
hmmmm....
Bill Clinton for 8 more years- just slap a chastity belt on him first to avoid the inevitable distractions...

I too was a John McCain supporter despite significant differences on certain policy issues. But now that he's agreed to do some major whoring for the Republicans, he's losing his lustre.

Bush graduated from Harvard and can fly a jet fighter. This means he's stupid, how?
Kerry married a billionair and has been loafing off her money. I can see how you'd identify more with him as president.

Doesn't matter. The democrats have lost all three branches of government, Bush has the election in the bag. The Democrats are history. They simply haven't acknowledged that yet.
Patrick at August 21, 2004 9:17 PM
Michael Weiss would be my dream candidate. If I could be his dream Monica Lewinsky.

Bush graduated from Harvard and can fly a jet fighter.
Bush graduated from Harvard when anyone with the money and the connections could have done so. By the way, he attended Harvard BUSINESS School. You don't need to pass an admissions examination to get into their business school, you disingenuous shit.

Is that Michael Weiss, the bearded and charming co-owner of Imagistic? If so, tell him I said hey.
McCain would be a great candidate if he ever acknowledged that the Republican party has abandoned him, and he owes them no further loyaly. I don't know how he can go on shilling for a guy he so clearly has only contempt for.
You really have to see THIS:

Michael Weiss is the handsome actor. And my blog refuses blogsp*t comments based on the advice of Jay Allen who wrote MTBlacklist, because too many spammers were using blogsp*t sites. Blogspotters can type in their address as you did. It's a small price to pay...versus my spending HOURS a week to erase spam, and getting aggravated about it to boot.

Not a dream candidate, a dream race.... In 2008, seeing Hillary Clinton (thus fulfilling Eric's dream of another 8 years of sex free clinton) running against Colin Powell.
Not only would I not know whom to vote for (because there were two good choices, not none), the choice between a woman and a black man for president would drive the neanderthal racists and sexists nuts...
Alas, it will never happen.
arin at August 23, 2004 6:26 AM
Hey, I just want the president happy, mellow and relaxed. What ANYBODY does with their genitals or puts in their body is of no concern to me. It doesn't even bother me that Bob Dole just stuck his own head straight up his ass.
