I've noticed that most self-professed libertarians do tend to have a slight preference for right or left. What I would call "right-libertarians" tend towards absolute worship of the original intent of the constitution to the letter, and tend not to care if corporations abuse and oppress just so long as the federal government doesn't (but it's okay if the state governments do). "Left-libertarians" tend to be more concerned about expanded police powers, sexual repression, and any hints of theocracy.
Gross generalizations, but that's what it tends to be about when Larry Elder goes off on Bill Maher for calling himself libertarian.
