The Surreal Deal
A compelling slide show of 194 photos taken by a French-quarter dwelling Nicaraugan hotel worker in New Orleans -- before, during, and after Katrina.

Wow! What a great set of photos. I didn't have any problem linking to it, so it must be fixed. Grab a glass of wine, cuz it takes a while to get through them all.
Note that you can order copies...

They used to say "Penny Lane" was even better when you were stoned.
This sequence of photos is even better on dial-up because you're forced to sit and weep over each one individually. It ain't a sequence, it's a fuckin' MOOD.
The mildly fractured, non-native english makes it even better! Didn't we all enjoy the minor quibbling about the appropriated truck? When the stranger with the credit card covered five cars, I was in tears....
