Amy, you probably posted it just because it looked funny, but you just hit my personal LA pet peeve - illegal street vendors.

They break multiple laws (no sales tax, no business tax, a fair bet they pay no income tax on cash sales, no compliance with health laws for food sales), and they are stealing their overhead from the public by using the sidewalks as their "place of business" (and often using stolen shopping carts for their "equipment" as well). They also tie up traffic to make their sales and often litter to boot.

Most of the illegal vendors I see are probably illegal aliens as well. And there isn't even an argument that they are providing cheap labor for jobs that Americans don't want, because they aren't selling anything that isn't being sold legitimately elsewhere - thus they are the very definition of unfair competition.
