Free Money
No, really. Not a scam. It's addictive, don't say I didn't warn you, but look yourself up here, and see if any states are holding funds for you. I already looked up about 20 people, and found about three thousand dollars they were missing. Not sure how much my waiting TV talent payments check is for -- going to see if I can get the letter notarized at my bank to get it.

An old (& fond) girlfriend went through my whole family with these sites last year and set us up pretty well. But I followed your link to the California site this mornign on a lark.

http://www.sco.ca.gov/

It's GROTESQUE. It's got fucking piggy bank graphics. Controller Westly (former Ebay guy) is using it as a personal puff site. Wikipedia reports (links excised):

"Westly ran for California State Controller in 2002 against State Senator Tom McClintock and won by a margin of 22,730 votes (out of 7,258,758 votes cast). Westly garnered 3,289,839 (45.4%) votes while McClintock won the support of 3,273,028 (45.1%) people. Three other candidates won 695,891 (9.5%) votes. Westly had outspent McClintock by a 5-to-1 margin."

I think McClintock is the one Seipp told us to vote for a couple years ago.

Y'know, every time my retired mother in Indiana complains about the apeshit politics of my home state, I think "Well, that how them hillbillies do things." It's absolutely amazing that in 2006 California, state politicians can be so transparently abusive of their position. I'm naive.

Totally agree that the the CA site is a personals ad for Westly, but on the other hand I'm now filling out a claim form for $1600 I didn't know about, so I'll live with it. Thanks for the link, Amy.

Kimberly, we're all happy for you, but remember: That was YOUR MONEY. The tie-wearing. ebay-financed shitwit at the top of the web page had NUTHIN' to do with it.

He sure makes it sound like he's personally responsible though, doesn't he? "Welcome to MY (emphasis mine) Web site"? All the little news blurbs about him. Please.

Honestly, it's like looking at a parody site.
