"The Fog Comes On Little..."

Best I could do on short notice, what can I say?

I think some of the prettiest words ever written are:

The yellow fog that rubs its back upon the window-panes,
The yellow smoke that rubs its muzzle on the window-panes
Licked its tongue into the corners of the evening,
Lingered upon the pools that stand in drains,
Let fall upon its back the soot that falls from chimneys,
Slipped by the terrace, made a sudden leap,
And seeing that it was a soft October night,
Curled once about the house, and fell asleep.

-- TS Elliot, The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock

The Sandburg poem is also wonderful. I need to get on Amazon and find a collected works of his.

By far my favorite poem as well. The verse that I love is:
For I have known them all already, known them all:—
Have known the evenings, mornings, afternoons,
I have measured out my life with coffee spoons;
I know the voices dying with a dying fall
Beneath the music from a farther room.

I’m always on the lookout for food I can afford. Chicken feet meet this test. There’s no meat on the damned things, so I just chew them until my teeth are so damned sore I can’t eat real food. Another benefit of buying chicken feet is… their toenails make great toothpicks.
