Special Laws For Muslims
If you want to live under Sharia law...stay in Iran, Iraq, or whatever stuck-in-the-Middle-Ages country you came from. In the running for spotted dick of the year is the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Roman Williams. From the BBC:
Dr Rowan Williams told Radio 4's World at One that the UK has to "face up to the fact" that some of its citizens do not relate to the British legal system.Dr Williams argues that adopting parts of Islamic Sharia law would help maintain social cohesion.
For example, Muslims could choose to have marital disputes or financial matters dealt with in a Sharia court.
He says Muslims should not have to choose between "the stark alternatives of cultural loyalty or state loyalty".
Again, if modern western society doesn't work for you -- stay where you are.
If, within your own backward community in a western society, you would like to subject yourself to primitive religious dictates, well, have at it. But, under the absolutely daffy and dangerous notion that religious nuttery would be incorporated into or recognized by the law of the land, well, the already oppressed women of Islam could be further oppressed. To name just one example.

Amen!
You are point on.

I thought at one time Bishops and Archbishops were in the business of spreading The Good Word, of convincing others to join the Faith. Now, apparently, they are negotiating the terms of surrender.

Well you must remeber that the position of archbishop, indeed the entire anglican faith, was created by a serial killer just so he could get a divorce.
Is it any wonder that the owner of such a title today would bend over backward for killers?
Catering to murderers is the reason the position was created in the first place - The arch bishop was just doing his job

Oh my love you do me wrong to cast me off discourteously ;)
The good news is the Archbishop is taking a beating over it. Maybe there's hope for the brits after all.

In the US, there is precedent for applying the law over religious conviction. Not only are some forms of "worship", such as bloodletting and animal sacrifice prohibited, persons who recklessly endanger, injure or kill others as a result of religious practice are also prosecuted. Our job is to see that this policy is continued, and to point out the stark contrasts between us and Islam on these issues.

It's going to be all right though, because they're starting to run out of competent bombers. This just in from News of the Weird:
Least Competent People
It is apparently becoming more difficult to recruit competent suicide bombers in Afghanistan because twice in a two-day period in January, clumsy bombers accidentally blew themselves up before they ever had the chance to take their targets out. One fell down a flight of stairs while on his way to an attack in the town of Khost, and the other's bomb accidentally exploded as he was getting dressed for an assignment in the town of Lashkar Gah (although the latter bomber did take three colleagues with him). Just out of curiosity, will this mean that non-Muslim women can be killed by Muslim men, and then have the murder tried under Sharia law?
'Cause, ya know, that seems like something that would happen if it was permitted.
