California is a beautiful state, no doubt about it. I've only been there once, but I feel I know it well, having seen it in a million movies. I'm always amused when you see a character driving down a road in "Ohio," with hills like that in the background. Don't think so.
Stunningly beautiful, and with very different landscapes. Like Nance, I'm a midwestern girl. I went to NYC first, then came out to L.A. A friend I knew from L.A. invited me to go with her "to the desert" one March. "The desert" was what I pictured in movies -- hot, hot, hot, so I brought a few light clothes, a bathing suit, and a sarong. Well, I wore every item I brought, including the sarong, which I tied around my head to ward off the freezing cold.
I just love the weather. Yesterday: hail. Today:blue skies and sun. The view from the hills is incredible.

Nice photo. I love how the hills around here turn green so quickly once the rains start - it's like the grasses can't grow fast enough after being brown for so much of the year.

Justin stole my comment. Those hills are usually a goldish shade of brown

This time last year the hills were still brown along the I-5. Good to see some green.
I went up to the Redwood Run in Peircy which is right outside Willet up there last July, we left there at 7:30 in the moring and rode Hwy 20 across to the 5 and took that all the way down to San Diego. What a ride! We got home about 9:30 at night. It was such beautiful country up there. It gets a little dull around the central plain there. If you're ever headed up that way again and have time and it's not too far out of your way, go up old 395 to Tahoe. That's a lot like old route 66.

This is cattle country. Hills are full of feeder cattle grazing . The crop is grass the only way to harvest it is with cattle. That's what helped made California great. Its ranching.

"Oh, beautiful, for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain. For purple mountains' majesty, above the fruited plain.... ."
