Yoohoo, Christians...Did You Forget To Riot?
An AP report says that makeup with messages offensive to some Christians was pulled from the shelves in Singapore after they complained it was disrespectful:

A cosmetics range with cheeky taglines that extolled the virtues of "Looking Good for Jesus" has been pulled from stores in Singapore after some Roman Catholics complained the items were disrespectful, a newspaper reported Tuesday.

Promising to "Redeem your reputation and more," the product line included a "virtuous vanilla"-flavored lip balm and a "Get Tight with Christ" hand and body cream, as well as bags and other items sold by British retailer Topshop and produced by Blue Q, The Straits Times said.

Wing Tai Retail, which manages Topshop in the city-state, removed the range late last month after receiving complaints, the newspaper said.

Wait, that's all that happened? Where are all the Christians rioting and hurling around death threats like the Muslims?

Point well taken, Amy, but I'm too amused at the thought of this retailer getting rich off Christ. Getting Tight with Christ? It doesn't get much funnier. I guess, though, it was the Protestants doing the buying.

Oh, wait, let me get my sword and my "Goddess is Great!" sparkly mascara! o_O

well, yeah. Kinda like the furniture thang.

Meanwhile...

Gee, Crid, that's too bad. But it does just demonstrate the necessity to stand up to them. Seems like governments are running scared at a time when they need to stand up and fight. Yeah, right, they'll respect sharia courts in conjunction with secular courts. Just as long as we shut up and let Islam ride rough shod over everything, take away our most basic freedoms. And our governments quake in their boots afraid to offend like as if they don't they won't kill the infidels.

They need to bring that line here. There are plenty of crazy Baptists who would buy those products.

The Lutherans rioted in the basement, and cookies and coffee were served.

It's in the church bulletin, you should really read the back page, don't ya know.

Cake, or death!

For the Eddie Izzard fans among us....

I promise, in the spirit of murderous religious indignation, to hurl a piece of coffee-cake across the room after the Sunday service.

Us Minnesota Scandinavians can be a righteous lot when riled.

And yes I will promptly sweep up the pieces once everyone has given me a proper murmuring sidelong glance.

You'all have missed the point.
What in the hell is wrong with England? First we hear that Muslims can have multiple wives and still be on the dole, then we hear the Head of the Anglican Church endorse Sharia Law, and now wierd cosmetics to Christians. It almost makes a body want to cut a head or something. OK, maybe not quite that extreme, but I might stamp my foot while England drowns.

^^^Singapore, not England.

Multiple wives on the dole thing is Canada, I believe.

Posted by: bour3 at February 15, 2008 9:35 PM

We here in the South are so incensed by this that we plan to "stone" some folks to death with stale cornbread. Well, with what's left after we run out of buttermilk anyway.

bour3, I saw the lady who wrote that book Londonistan on Glenn Beck today and she happened to mention that in England, Muslims with multiple wives do get a separate dole payment for each of them. I have heard this before. My best british friend, 'limey fuck Tony' tells me that's the case too. He's from london.

Watch that cornbread Bubba, that stuff can get hard as a rock if you don't soak it in beans and hamhocks.

Hilarious, Bubba.

And they do get to put multiple wives on the dole.

I understand why all the primitives come to western society. I mean, can you imagine them getting a deal like we give them back in their societies? We're practically inviting them to be the end of us.

I wonder if the copywriter that wrote those captions realises that "tight" is an early twentieth century, upper-class slang for drunk? Get drunk with Christ - their communions must be a whole lot more generous than the ones I have seen.

We Methodists will consider rioting while we are having our coffee and cookies in the basement after worship service. But we may not have time with our President's Day Pie Social coming up. After all, there is only so much time in the day . . .

I gave up rioting for Lent.
