Hillary Calls The Bosnia Thing "A Mistake"
As in, "Whoops! I got caught." Jeff Mason writes for Reuters:
GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said on Tuesday she made a mistake when she claimed she had come under sniper fire during a trip to Bosnia in 1996 while she was first lady.In a speech in Washington and in several interviews last week Clinton described how she and her daughter, Chelsea, ran for cover under hostile fire shortly after her plane landed in Tuzla, Bosnia.
Several news outlets disputed the claim and a video of the trip, showed Clinton walking from the plane, accompanied by her daughter. They were greeted by a young girl in a small ceremony on the tarmac and there was no sign of tension or any danger.
"I did make a mistake in talking about it, you know, the last time and recently," Clinton told reporters in Pennsylvania where she was campaigning before the state's April 22 primary. She said she had a "different memory" about the landing.
"So I made a mistake. That happens. It proves I'm human, which, you know, for some people, is a revelation."
"This is really about what policy experience we have and who's ready to be commander in chief. And I'm happy to put my experience up against Senator Obama's any day."
Well, it seems he lied about his grandmother, and about his half-sister's entry to America (not at the airport, surrounded by Africans and many other foreigners, but at the Greyhound bus station). Still, I think Hillary's experience as a liar trumps his many times over.

Doomed, I'm tellin' ya, if either one gets into that big white building on Pennsylvania Ave. I was at a game dinner last night (absolute heaven, the venison chili was awesome!), and there were at least 8 guys gabbin' about it all, and they all agreed that they were voting for Nader! All I could do was shake my head in despair. o_O

She definitely proves she is ready for the oval office with that one! Wonder what would cause her to make up a story like that? As in, who was she trying to impress or otherwise, and not expect to get called out on it!?! If a bullet goes anywhere near the first lady, the world would have known (great PR for the war machine at the least).

Personally, I think Hillary holds all human beings in contempt; others speculate that she only has contempt for men. But nobody doubts that her capacity for leadership is crippled by weird ideas about loyalty (see Stephanopoulos)... She's kind of like Eddie Van Halen that way, only not as entertaining.
And speaking of harmonic distortion, who's the fucking staffer who's supposed to be vetting this woman's speeches? She's been teased for not doing her own writing, but this makes you wonder if she did her own reading when she said those things.
Listen, if you or I choose to remember that the one blind date in Studio City with the friend of our accountant in 1996 went better than it did, then no harm no foul. (Ca Del Sole on Cahuenga... unremarkable entrees.) We can remember wrong if we want to, and it's a the littlest of white lies.
Kaus had some fun last week by noting that a mild, mirthless comedian was one of the first ones to call Hillary's bluff: "Always trust content from Sinbad." These event happened when she was traveling with dozens of people to meet thousands of others while hundreds of media types were watching. Did she really think no one else would have a perspective on this? It's like she thinks other people aren't even there.
Or she's like Spitzer, perfectly aware that her sins will be discovered, as if eager to have the stressed relieved one way or the other.
Whatever... To Hell with her.

I still can't figure out *why* she would lie about it? What could her being under sniper fire possibly have to do with making her a better canidate?

Maybe she was trying to demonstrate how "cool" she is - except she already blew her credibility when she cried, when was that, a couple of months ago? And now she's all "grace under fire" and such-like. Woman's a snake, a liar and a thief, and she does not belong in the White House again.

Flynne hates her more than I do! That's remarkable.
Seriously, to confess to a "mistake" asks more questions than it answers. How, precisely, was it a "mistake" as opposed to, say, a lie? Or is the mistake just that she said something for which she was busted?
>> It proves I'm human
The quality of service which you'll receive from any person is inversely proportional to their propensity for confessing "humanity."
>> for some people, is a revelation.
It's always about her enemies, the vast right wing conspiracy etc. Will her sarcasm put her in the White House?
This woman is just so full of shit... I'll never understand how people can admire her.
Well, how people can admire any politician, actually. But Jesus Christ....

I don't think I hate her anymore than you do, just not any less!
She's just so damn phony, I can't even stand to look at her anymore, she's revolting. I saw a video of her with some little school kids and her expression was so over-blown and fake and I just didn't get how nobody else notices that. She was so not into being there. She tried to hard to look like she was into it, and you could tell she wasn't. Woman schkeeves me, totally.

Do you remember this? Hillary Clinton planted a question while campaigning in Iowa.
